Anyone open up their bumper end intakes on their 2018+ GT?

The "brake intakes" at the ends of the 2018+ bumper are blanked off for GT PP cars. Curiously they are open for EB cars.

Has anyone opened up theirs to allow air flow through the fender liner and onto the outside of the front tires? Or removed the black plastic inserts completely?

I wonder if there is any advantage/disadvantage to open these. Maybe opening them will cool the outside of the tires by 1 degree on track days, haha.

I did drill holes through on mine. There's a small plastic "ramp" behind it and an opening into the wheel well.
In hindsight, I don't think it did/does anything. If anything, it's causing more drag; most race cars are completely sealed off on the front other than into the radiator.

I have noticed that numerous new cars and trucks have open pass-throughs in the same location on the bumpers. I've noticed it on newer Silverados and my wife's Explorer ST has the openings. Maybe there is an advantage to it 🤷‍♂️

I’ve wondered about this as well. Thinking it might cool the front brakes better?
I wasn’t aware the EB models were open? Weird. Any Ford engineers in here?

This has been discussed a few times, here's a good thread on it:

TLDR: These vents feed air over the outside of the wheel to create an air curtain for better aerodynamics. They are blocked on PP1/PP2 cars since they have wider tires/lower offset wheels that interfere with the air curtain.

They are air curtains to reduce drag and increase mileage BUT not working in ours cause they find the bigger tires.
NO FOR BRAKING COOLING.
For that u need bigger dicerge plate (vorshlag)
Or dedicated inlets :)

Update.
I could not remove the OEM vents because they are underneath another part that is heat welded to the bumper cover. So I returned the ones for EB cars that I ordered.

The only way now is to drill/dremel out the individual cells. If I ever do that I will follow the pattern of the EB vents, since the upper cells are blanked off. (The tunnel does not reach up to them.)

Cut out driver's side for an oil cooler (instead of mounting it in front of the radiator).

I like that a lot! Never seen someone put an oil cooler there.
Not sure where I'd put my brake ducts though

I created GT PP style ducts with Vorshlag deflectors. They work well.

I have the PP scoops but I have additional ducts on the front. Can't get enough brake cooling
