I want to pull cover off the backrest and send to get fixed, was wondering if anyone has any write ups on the Recaros. The 5-point harness inserts must have to come off but I’m not to sure how. Have any of you done it?

Yes, but only on the base (which requires removing the back).

A few pictures from my build thread :

If you are anal about marks on your plastic trim, you can remove the bolt covers without risk of damage by popping them up from the underside :

The tool I used for the front would have also been easier / better for the rear - slide it underneath, rotate it through 90° and the cover pops up :

With regards bolt sizes it appears that Ford changed them mid production :

I got this info on the harness inserts from a member on here (I might take mine out to colour code them) :

That member (I cant remember who it was sorry !) warned me that the plastic inserts can be brittle (and the replacement carbon ones are expensive lol). I would pick a warm day and / or use a heat gun to warm them up a little :like:

Hope that helps and good luck :like:

Thanks A lot for this! You even found the harness pass through instructions! I’ve already had the base apart before on pass sideto change out the bladder pressure sensor but never the back.

The LMR videos on YouTube (for seat cover replacement) were a great guide to stripping the base and mostly transferable to the Recaro - I would assume the video for the seatback would be similarly useful, especially paired with the harness slot instructions above.

If you need to get the seat belt hook off the side of the seat (without damaging the plastic), working from the front face of the seat push the soft lining in and poke a small trim tool up inside the plastic hook to pop the cover off from the inside. I did mine as the seat cover was tweaked in that area and it wouldn't sit in its natural position without the seat belt hook being slackened off to let the seat cover move into its position before I retightened the hook.
