..wonder if there is more room in the engine bay of an S197 as
opposed to a S550?
Which car could handle the 7.1 engine better?
Engine bay size is why the new gt500 dont have a 5.8 I heard

The BOSS 302 gave me a better appreciation for the S197 Platform, especially the later Cosmetic Updates. IMO, this would unforutnately fall under the "Parts Bin Special" catagory similar to the Bullitt and MACH 1. What current model would they eliminate this time?

The Mach 1 and GT500 are finished next year regardless of what Ford does for the S650. A Boss would be the perfect 1st special edition for the new series.

And, of course, it’s going to be a parts bin special. Or could it be a 600-700 HP hybrid? :fingerscrossed:🤭

but not to light like a Ferrari
Ummm the Ferrari 812 superfast, which will destroy anything in the Ford camp except the Ford GT in top speed and braking, weighs in at a hefty 4000 lbs. BTW the BOSS weighed 3641 lb .

I meant light like just most them super cars and the boss was the perfect weight in my opinion but that was the S197 and I miss them the s197 was the best thing on wheels

I want it to be a naturally aspirated 5.0 with about 540-570 horsepower and have it be a raw power muscle car and not all about corners

For all intents and purpose. The GT350 is the new “Boss302“. In every sense of the word serves the same purpose and has a lot of the same conditions in regard to how it’s driven and what it’s used for.

Not what I'm finding, unless you're talking about GVW.

What you really want here is a re-imagined Boss 429.

Not another Boss 302, which of any generation was never really all that suitable for the straight line stuff. At best, they were "Junior Muscle", just as their small-block engine descriptions suggest.

The BOSS/Mach1 were peak Mustang, the Shelby was always a line above.

I still heavily feel that something internally was changed and that originally the GT PPL2 + the Bullitt engine were always intended to be a new BOSS car. But something happened and they were split. I personally believe its a mix of strong GT350 sales and the original Bullitt being found. Not a single one of the 'official" sources I've heard say anything that really feels like its the full story, and as they all still work at Ford they have reason to not really talk abut what happened behind closed doors.

What we DO know is that the GT350 was originally supposed to end earlier, and that the team behind the PPL2 team was told to aim it for a Boss level car.

Boss-E

Just kidding. I would have liked to see it released concurrently with the Mach 1. They could have kept everything in the Mach 1 except for having the track handling package be exclusive to and standard equipment on the Boss. In addition, give the Boss ported and polished and tuned for 500 hp. Of course different graphics, trim, hood, etc.

Edit: Allow you to order it with more diff options, 4.09, 4.56, etc.

At this point, I don't think I'd care to see any S650 Boss 302.

It would be too refined.

Norm

I'm inclined to agree.

The S197 Boss 302 remains my favourite S197........and the nod to the '69 and '70 was perfect in my opinion. A focussed drivers car with cloth Recaros and just bare bones tech (no Satnav option etc). With the '12 using the '69 graphics and the '13 using the '70 graphics they nailed the modern versions. The fact it was the best handling S197 yet was the icing on the cake. And the cherry on top was the forged internals on the Roadrunner 5.0

I think that's why the Mach 1 name suits the character of the more refined S550 better, and I hope they carry over the Mach 1 into S650.
