Hi all in the V6 3.7L Engine group,

Has anyone out there been able to order a V6 Base Model with the Performance Package upgrade?

It looks like a very good deal to have better brakes, suspension upgrades, larger rims, and a 3.55 rear end change.

All of these things would cost more for me to try and upgrade them on my own I think.

Let me know if there is any way to have Ford sell me this Performance Package option with the V6.

Thanks for your help,

Sincerely, Mark.k

Its just plain not available on the V6. As in, not happening, no way to do it at the factory. Get an ecoboost, or GT if funds allow :)

You can get the 3.55 on the V6. Steeda has just released sport springs for the V6 as well which would be a cheap upgrade.

Thanks for your advise.

If I ordered the 051 A package with the V6 Base Mustang would the 18" rims allow me to upgrade to larger disc brakes later on down the road or would I also need to get the larger 19" rims?

I am concerned about the 4 cylinder turbo because I own some 1.8L turbo VW Passats and have had reliability issues with sludge build up in the pan and also needing to add synthetic oil every month.

The Mishimoto company has some interesting videos on YouTube and they are trying to make a dedicated oil cooling system as the ecoboost mustang does not come with one.

It seems like the oil can really get cooked from the turbo in my Passat cars so I hope the same will not happen to the ecoboost mustang engine.

The VW 1.8T and Identical Audi 1.8T as well as the 6 cyl turbo from the older A6 are notorious for the sludge. It's just a design flaw with those engines.
It was just a bad motor. Everyone now has a 2.0T on the road, heck even Cadillac!
I know the EB is 2.3 but just sayin, the only time you hear about sludge killing turbo fours is when you talk older VW and Audi 1.8T.

The 18" wheels in 051 A package are also available on the GT, so I would assume so.

If Ford won`t allow an upgrade to a 2015 Base V6 Convertible to add Sirius Satellite Radio nor will it allow you a color choice of the Cloth Interior from Ebony Black to the Ceramic Cloth Interior (formerly Stone) which they offer on the Base EB 2.3 or Base GT 5.0 V8 what do you think the chances are of Ford offering a "Premium" V6 package? ZERO! Lucky they even allowed the 051A upgrade package or the Optional 3:55 rear gear axle.

What I suggest is getting in real good with the factory people outside of work and see if they'll build you one. I mean we've seen errors come out. V6 with GT hood for example.

You know it's doable, Ford is just being sh-tty to the V6 for the stupid CAFE standards.

just get the v6 with 051 package, and add leather seats. the dealers add leather aftermarket all the time.

in fact, I'm sure companies like clazzio will have quality leather covers for this car very soon.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
Put together your own "performance package."

The big thing about adding aftermarket is that you still aren't getting the heated/cooled seats, or the toggles.

If I knew for a fact I could have the garage add all that stuff afterwards, I'd do a V6 in a heartbeat.

Why just not get a 5.0 or an eco boost? The v6 isn't bad, per se, but by comparison, it's a boat anchor

Hi TGR96,

American Muscle raced the new stock ecoboost against last year's stock V6 on the drag strip and the V6 won!!

So the V6 may not be as much as a boat anchor as you think.

I live in California and I have never seen any 93 octane gas pumps out here so I will never get the ecoboost power that are listed. They only sell up to 91 octane.

Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Have you noticed Ford hasn't done a 2015 V6 vs a 2015 EB....ever wonder why?

Performance potential of the eco boost > than that of the v6
