Do these deck lids scratch as easily as the stock ones?
Im looking but don’t want to pay the $35 shipping that one place had. Any discount codes out there yet? Thanks

So, @ Elvis66 , are you happy with your Drake panel? I'd put my satisfaction at about 90%, on first look.

The fit is not perfect, and I'm a perfectionist obsessive-compulsive.

My experience was, my Drake came in and was defective. It didn't fit flush and the Back Up camera didn't fit flush either. Drake wouldn't help me and CJ Pony Parts never gave me a RA. I threw it in the trash and bought a Ford Performance One without the Emblem holes. Good Luck.

I bought from Blue Oval Industries via eBay; shipping was free.

Can't say, about the scratch resistance, as the piece is still new. I haven't had trouble with the OEM panel in this regard but, again, the car itself is still pretty new.

I had my Race Red Vinyl stripes removed for I just did not like the vinyl look. I am having painted stripes done now.

Does anyone know exactly what kind of plastic the Drake decklid panel is made from?

Every S550 mustang made has that same gap.

It's not the gap between panels that bothers me (I know they all have it), it's that the panel sticks out over the bumper relative to the taillight a bit more on that side - it lines up pretty closely on the right-hand side.

Told you it's a problem with being obsessive. :cwl:

The two pieces that make up the Drake panel have clearly separated a bit, there's a gap between them that you can see on the lower inside edge when you open the trunk. This causes the panel to stick out a bit. So I may remove it and try to seal the two halves back together. If that doesn't help, I'll learn to live in the real world.

Good luck with it - what you describe is what I meant. Every mustang I have seen since paying attention has that same "stick out" on the left hand side only. Right is always even. Right tail light usually hovers over the bumper, left sits right on the bumper. There are about 100 other F&F issues that run across the entire platform :)

I wonder why that is?

I never paid such close attention to the corner of the original panel, of course. I've noticed other small things about the assembly - the left-hand trunk lid is just a smidgeon higher than the quarter panel...as you say, there are a lot of little things.

Maybe I should just take a pill.

Generally real happy with the new panel.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I feel like this is a good place to ask;
I'm designing a custom emblem for my rear decklid, and it doesn't make sense to put it on the old, scratched one... so Im shopping for a replacement.

I'm looking at the MP concepts, the Drake, and the FP one on BlueOval.

Anybody with these on have any long term reviews now that they've been on your car for a while?

Do they scratch just as easy as the OEM panel?

Would you go a different direction in hindsight?

I don't usually post here, but facing same dilemma. I had a 'SHELBY' 50th Anniversary deck lid - I think made by Drake - and it also did not fit perfectly. I fiddled with it, did some dremal work on the back and added washers to the tail light bezels (to move them out) and I got it 'close.'

But I'm selling the SHELBY piece now, and tried the add a black 'GT' logo to the original panel (cut the tabs from the back and pushed it off from the back). I thought I did a hell of a job, but now see a couple of tiny stress cracks on an otherwise perfect panel...

So I'm back to buying another. Ugh. Scared to buy anything from Drake - and admitting that I like their stuff, but still uneasy about it.

You know, the washer trick might work on the driver's side taillight. Thanks!
