Getting ready for my 1st trip to the 1/4 track. Whipple gen 2 stage 2 with PBD tune, 3.625 pulley and 6r80. Lots of traction goodies. 700 hp.

Ready to buy 17 × 10.5 wheels and 28" diameter tires. Using my 20" front wheels and tires that are close to 28".

Do any of the 305/45r17 MT street radials (SS or ET R) give enough traction at track? Worried that the whipple low end torque will be too much for a DOT drag radial.

I'd like to have a tire i can drive to the track, but dont want to spin a ton or have an unsafe pass. Should i skip that idea and accept that i probably need a slick? Thanks!

You should be good with ET street R radials. I watch auto guys hooking hard with them cutting wicked 60 ft times.

Update. Got the MT 305/45r17's street R's installed and they hook pretty good on the street. Obviously can't WOT in low gears, but can give it a lot more pedal that i could with the MPSS, conti ECS or nitto G2's that i've had.

Sorry, they are 17's. Fronts are 20's and daily drive rears are 20's. Fixed post above....

I'd like to piggyback off of this post if OP doesn't mind. I have 19x11s in the rear and would like something similar to the ET Street R, but they don't make them in 19. Is there anything similar in performance that can be street driven?
