Airbox Question for GT350 with GT500 style hood

So I've noticed a slight gap between the weather stripping the stock GT350 airbox has when it has the Cervini's GT500 style hood. Does anyone have any experience or know if the 1-2" gap between the box and hood would be fine for heat?

Should I look into get an aftermarket closed box aftermarket air intake?
