Didn't really take any pictures but got my Hertz speakers installed all but the passenger side tweeter in the A pillar. Still hooked up to factory amp so nothing to write home about yet.

However since the door holes are larger than the speakers I had to cut out the OEM speaker from the factory bracket and secure the new speaker to that. This is good for window clearance but the speaker is too close to the door panel and on even light bass it hits and resonates against the door panel. Going to see if I can remove the speaker covers as I believe they are just clipped in. Wondering how hideous that will look though, Lol.

Got some nice engine bay shots yesterday.

Also had a change of plans for my methanol tank. Redesigned it simpler and with less of a chance of fluid sloshing away from the pickup point. Old design was like trying to keep water in a dish, new design is more like a cup. Plus now I can mount the pump below the pickup instead of even with it. Safer design overall. PSI Proformance will be building it. It will mount to the back of my subwoofer box where I made the gap between it and the back of the trunk. Should be about 5 gal.

Baby steps, but I mounted my meth injection power and low level lights.

Unfortunately I didnt think until after the fact that some LEDs are very directional and some arent. Hoping these arent. If so I should have mounted them on the face of the pillar by the gauges toward me, but I wanted a little separation since the gauges are bright.

Over the weekend hooked up the sound system power/ground wires. Installed my XS D4700, and installed the custom battery terminals I made for it. Couldn't find any terminals on the market that would fit the tiny bit of space we have in the battery compartment, especially with the top of our battery not being flat. Had to cut the front of the battery tray but otherwise fit well.

Overall the wires are nice and protected and safe. It does look a little cluttered since there are so many, but with the amount of wiring going on here I couldn't find a way to make it look any neater. Also ran a wire from the upgraded alternator to the battery. That cable is fused to 400A (370A alternator), the other cables are fused to 300A each.

Got the battery cover to mostly fit back on. The wires were touching the hood at first so I raised the rubber hood stops a bit and seems good now. No marks or anything on the cables.

Wired up the rear battery and battery isolators. Installed methanol pump, but not hooked up yet.

Drove a couple hundred miles and rechecked it a few times, all looks good! With current fuses capable of transferring 600A to the sound system. That should be sufficient for music. If needed i can up the fuses to the cable's max rating of 750A.

Next up is fixing my door speakers. Not enough clearance between the speaker and the door panel so I will have to cut a hole and install the Hertz grille in it's place. Hoping it doesn't come out too ugly.

It does take some patience to spend entire days doing nothing but hooking up wires  With cold weather approaching I'm worried I'll be shivering outside by the time im finishing up the system.

Got under the car today to check for false knock. Took a look at the MAK Cat deletes and resonators while I was under there. And tightened up some of the sound system wire which drooped after driving with it for awhile.

Amazing how much room is in there without the cats in place. I was also surprised how cool the pipes were even after just driving. Those cats really retained heat before.

As far as false knock results I found the BOV had some marks from hitting the grille opening I made, so I made it slightly bigger (forgot to take a pic of that). My resonators are very close and almost touching so I thought they may be hitting eachother, but directly after them is the H pipe so they are completely solid. I couldn;t get them to rattle or touch eachother. So idk  Pics below.

Those look really close. Was the pic taken when the exhaust was cold? I would expect the metal to expand when really hot so they may be touching when you're really pushing it. Just a thought. Chasing damn knock myself at the moment.

I think the exhaust was warm when i checked it. They are really close, almost touching. But they are attached directly to the H pipe that you can see right after them, so they are solid and dont move. I put all my strength into it and couldnt make them touch.

Alot of my knock seems to be real, due to gas. With Torco I get zero or very little knock on accel. I still seem to get knock, usually ~4deg, at very light throttle though, especially when cold. So it has to be false. If it isn't false maybe something wrong with my motor, but it drives perfectly fine so I don't have the heart to do a compression test in case I don't like what I see  I'd rather just wait till it dies and then bite the bullet for a forged rebuild.

Sounds good man, I'll send you a PM.

I'm hoping to be done with the system this month. There's not too much left to go. Just have to install the box, amps, and do the wiring. Cut out holes in the door panels and replace one A pillar tweeter. A few days of work but i think doable within a month... :headbonk:

In other news I have an appointment for next Thursday at PSI Proformance. Currently seeing 18psi at redline on a 12psi wastegate spring. Changing to a 7psi and hoping for the same +6 rise to 13psi. Also getting another set of spring spacers put in the rear for all the weight that's about to be added, and changing out the rear shock mounts for Steeda ones. This will be the first job I'm not doing myself (aside from trans and welding). But I just don't feel like hassling with that damn IRS cradle again. Plus since the spacers dont fill the void perfectly, they have to be welded together.

So, quick update.

Thought I blew my engine, turned out to be a bad spark plug, woo! Changed them all after about 20k miles

Unfortunately, the whole subwoofer box I made didn't fit. So I had to redesign the whole system and build another one. Here are some in progress pics. New design has a shorter/deeper box, and amps mounted on the sides. Lots of equipment to fit in a small space. Will post pics when it's all done next week. I have tons of diagrams showing the plan but they are most likely confusing so unless anyone wants to see I'll wait till I post final pics.

PSI Proformance put together my wastegate setup for me so they got me the 3.8 pulley. The belt was another story though, the Procharger supplied belt didn't fit so I had to measure it and get a couple sizes up from Autozone. Been working fine though.

Believe me man, if you do a wastegate, you'll be much happier with your centri. My setup was around $800 all in, but it can be done even cheaper if you just weld a flange on the hot pipe and don't go the intercooler route.

Finished the box and swapped to my winter tires. I think I actually like these better... Might get my M350s powdercoated in the same color before next summer.

Sound system going in this Thurs-Sun
