Sorry gonna have to disagree with you ,275 is ideal but max actually is 285,according to one of the tire rim charts.

Correct, but you asked about 295, not 285! I know 285 will fit, but my tire guy advised against it.
He's been in the tire business for 25 years.

295 tires? 10" wheels?

For the rear that's weak.

Go 325s on 11-12" wheels if you want aggressive.

He also seems to be stuck in 1996 with that logic.

Nothing wrong with 295s on a 10" wheel, heck even tire manufacturers (Michelin for example) say it's perfectly fine and safe to put a 295 tire on a 10" wheel.

I would trust the manufacturer's recommendation on wheel size as they are the ones that tested said tire on said wheel not the guy that mounts them.

To add to what EFI said most manufacturers say a 305 can be put onto a 10" wheel. It falls into their min/max wheel width range. But a 10" is at the min allowable for a 305 tire.

In the end, don't listen to the keyboard critics or some random tire size chart, go by what the tire manufacture says. They made the tire, they know what it fits.
