The bottom half looks terrible, IMO. Too much empty space. They need to add some texture, lines, art.....something....anything.
Funny, I was thinking that if I waited and got this kit I would wrap it in CF.

After reading into it in much more detail, it is the Pioneer AppRadio 4. The Metra system is an add-on for controls with a bezel that accommodates a Double DIN unit.

First, I apologized for the long write up, I haven't been on the forum recently due to school so I've got a lot to say. I installed a Kenwood Excelon DDX 9903s and used the premium bezel to do the install. In order to get the faceplate flush with the bezel, I had to cut the plastic enclosure behind 4.3in screen and 2 metal bracket that supported cd player below. This may be a complicated task for the averge joe or not worth the risk if you leasing. It was worth to me because I had the tools and it looks better then the screenshots of that Scosche kit.

I used the Maestro RR programmed with 2015 F150 software which gave me TPMS, gauges and code reading capabilities but I did loose the steering wheel controls and Sync. The Sync system sucks compared to the aftermarket stereo anyways so its actually a gain, but loosing the steering wheel controls is a pain because DDX 9903s doesn't have hard buttons for track up or down as well as switching between android auto and Kenwoods interface takes several taps.

If you don not used the Scosche kit, you will not be able to keep the sync system, steering wheel controls, or A/C controls because they all used CAN Bus data which require a specific firmware that is different from other Ford vehicles!!!! I tried programming from an F150, Explorer, escape, 2014 mustang etc..... it did not work. If you don't care about any of these features you can ditch the Maestro RR and just use the idatalink F02 Harness by tagging the accessory wire at the junction box in the passenger kick.

I used the F02 harness made by idatalink which plugged right in and gave me a reverse camera input. The only splicing I had to do was tagging the reverse wire for the backup camera at the junction box in the passenger kick. I also kept the factory USBs using some adapters then ran an extra a charging USB port and HDMI port in center console in order to plug in my wireless display adapter for wireless mirroring. The newest update to the stereo allows for wireless mirroring touch controls too!!!!!

I just finished adding blind spot cameras on the mirrors which work with the blinkers then I will resolve the steering wheel controls, which I may have figured out and just need to test, then add some accents to the dash bezel to clean it up. After that is on to sound deadening to block road noise an improve the voice controls then of course amps, speakers and custom enclosure. School and work are sucking up all my time but once I'm done, I'll be sure to right it up.

The Scosche kit will definitely be easier to work with so if you don't want to mod or don't have the experience I would suggest to wait for it. As for choosing a radio, the Joying is cool in all but I've installed a bunch those cheap Chinese radios and they either don't last, eventually glitch like crazy, or have horrible sound processing in them making your system sound like crap. I don't professionally install anymore but I would have my MECP Masters cert if they did not change the test, so my honest ex-professional opinion would be to spend the extra money and get a pioneer or kenwood DDIN. Even the name brands aren't perfect, but when compared side by side with those Chinese brands, you'll see a big difference in user friendliness and reliability. I added links below to some of the parts I used.

What do people plan on getting for a unit?

Well im going all out with the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX. Ive always liked their stereos and this supports both Android Auto and Apple Car play. Not to mention it comes with all the bells and whistles, navi, xm sirius, and HD radio.

I hope they release a faceplate for premiums as well with the 4 toggle switches.

The scosche will work with the base and the premium. No need for a different faceplate.
