Ok I will stand corrected and check with my parts guy to let him know since he was going to be buying the cover for his 2017 that has the GT350 air cleaner unit on it now with the FP tune, he may not be aware there is a difference.

So, is there by chance a KR3Z-9661-B cover to fit the GT350 box lower?

Thanks for the info.

BD
Unfortunately not. And the GT500 cover will not fit the GT350 box. Go to post 19.

I talked with my parts guy, and he rechecked the schematics and confirmed your findings. He thought they were the same lowers but you can see in the pics on the schematics that there are small differences which we can clearly see in the thread you linked just above.

He was going to order a cover to see just how much mods it would take to get to fit, but I can now tell him not to bother.

If you look closely you can see the small differences between the two lowers.

So close but yet so far, Ford never makes it easy to swap parts. 😭

I installed the ford performance kit. But the cold air intake is from the gt350 and the iat's are through the roof in the summer. I'm trying to find a way to put a cover on that intake and l can lower the iat's. So I don't think it's worth it.. The only worthwhile one that I think would keep the iat's as low as stock might be the Steeda one but to get larger air flow you have to get their tune. So unless you want to void your it's not worth it.
Interesting! I've wondered if a cover for the perf kit would help isolate the incoming air and make a difference. Perhaps a thread on it's own about this? Curious to know how others feel.

Cheers!

Ford makes a cover for the GT350 CAI that comes with the FP tuner kit, Its part # 9661 in their schematic breakdown for the GT 350 air cleaner. check at local dealer for price quote.

A covered box is preferred over an open box as it lowers IAT's. Unfortunately there is no available cover for the FP CAI. Would need to go to GT500 box or aftermarket.

Go back to post #15, page 1 and read from there for complete info and parts needed to have covered style intake box.

Seems one of our members, Curtis at archetyperacing.com is working on producing one and hopes to be able to update us on the progress in the future.

Only if you get one with a tune.
I tested my 18 (and i have video) ,tune only Vs. CAI and tune on Dyno.
Gain was real and measurable. (20hp)
I roadcourse the car. So there is always moving air.
Your enemy is heat soaking. I've done a cover for my JLT when i was still using the car on street. Temps were better under control.but with the benefit of more air getting in the cylinders.
If you want to "Rice" at the light keep it stock.

Not hijack. But...

I have been watching your videos. It's great watching your progression with the car and racing.

How modified is your motor? I am not familiar with the racing classes.

The stock box seems to lack nothing with a K&N drop in.

I think adding the Steeda cover is worthwhile. They seem to get real HP returns with it on a tune.

The GT4’s OEM 5.0 airbox choice was a corrective action measure for under hood turbulence issues at higher vehicle speeds. The GT4 5.2 is typically detuned to a balance of power of 450 hp using a standard OEM GT 5.0 manifold with 80mm TB.

As long as you don't plan on running a flex tune... the maf turbulence was off the charts due to design.
