Aftermarket Cold Air Intake over Stock really worth it?

I had the Injen no-tune on my car when it was NA. Did it suck in more air and make more power? I don’t know. It looked good and sounded good and that’s why I went with it.

It’s certainly no worse than replacing your interior with carbon fiber parts. Same performance benefits, likely way cheaper.

Ford makes a cover for the GT350 CAI that comes with the FP tuner kit, Its part # 9661 in their schematic breakdown for the GT 350 air cleaner. check at local dealer for price quote.

That cover is for the GT500 and the part # is KR3Z-9661-A and only works with the corresponding GT500 airbox, part # KR3Z-9A612-A. Other hardware parts are required too.

At worst you will not lose any power or performance and it will make your engine bay look nicer. At best you will pick up a little and it will make your engine bay look nicer. That alone makes it worth the price since people pay much more than that for cosmetics that don't have anything to do with performance. So for $300 and a better looking engine bay I am all in. I have one and it looks great and it feels great. And I'm not debating whether or not it does anything. I like it and I'm never going back to the stock box.

I cant help but think that if the Bullitt, GT350, Mach 1, and GT500 all have that style of intake, it probably makes more HP. The issue is you need a tune to get that power...and that could impact warranty. That's my dilemma.

Yup, found those guys...definitely a better price vs direct through FP (for some reason). I think you still need to have it installed by a Ford tech to keep warranty. I wish those guys were closer.

That's where the FP tune comes into play, you get a bit more power but keep your warranty.

Yup, found those guys...definitely a better price vs direct through FP (for some reason). I think you still need to have it installed by a Ford tech to keep warranty. I wish those guys were closer.

You can also have it installed by an ASE Certified Tech to keep warranty coverage. That is how mine was installed.

Ok I will stand corrected and check with my parts guy to let him know since he was going to be buying the cover for his 2017 that has the GT350 air cleaner unit on it now with the FP tune, he may not be aware there is a difference.

So, is there by chance a KR3Z-9661-B cover to fit the GT350 box lower?
