Here is what I am wanting to do. I want to sell 1 of my project cars, I like the sound but is loud to some. I want to quiet it some. It has 14 inch long turbo after the axle. Cats are in place but resonator is deleted. Will 14 in turbo mounted in front of axle quieten the exhaust more? It will have 14 inch turbo in front and behind axle.

I’m struggling to understand what you’re saying exactly but will try to answer your question. In your context, it appears as though “turbo” means something like a glass-pack or bullet style muffler. If so then I don’t think adding more will accomplish what you want. This style “absorptive” muffler only has the ability to reduce high frequency sound. Adding more will still allow mid and low frequencies to remain. I’ve found the best results by using both absorptive (like a bullet/glass pack) and reactive (like a corsa) mufflers to capture the entire frequency spectrum.

This is a turbo style muffler

There are some differences but most are basically like this.

I think we need a lot more information before we can offer a useful opinion. Exactly what car are you wanting to modify here? What mods does this car have?

Turbo mufflers cost HP, they flow like shite.

Yes placing the cat further away from the engine will help them live.

Would the cat even get hot enough to work that far away?

I’m just pondering how nuts this thread is….we’re contemplating 4 “turbos”, and 2 cats behind the axle of a 2010 v6 Cadillac on a 2015+ Mustang forum.

The factory's used to put them about where a stock S550 resonator is.
