The R wing does make more rear downforce (tit was reported the swing had more incorrectly in one article) so, You should be tight if anything in my mind. I suspect something else is going on.
You’re correct, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Just found these number that came from an interview that @Wildcardfox did with ford.

2019 Swing: 135 lbs @ 120 mph
2019 Swing with Gurney Flab: 238 @ 120 mph
GT350R: 300 lbs

I have the R splitter, R wing, FP springs, front camber plates, track alignment, Michelin PSC2 FP tires.

After another run group, I think my tires have heat cycled out. They are unpredictable and causing me to understeer and oversteer all over the place. I decided to call it early and go home. New Goodyear eagle F1 3R tires will arrive on Monday.
You’re going to love those tires, they run super wide. I much prefer them over the cup 2

After understeering through turn 2 at Sonoma and exploring the narrow patch of dirt between the track and the wall, it was an easy decision.
With video evidence!

It’s funny how much slower it all looks on video than when you’re doing it.

These are just screencaps. Car was understeering (as it did here) and oversteering (as it did 10 seconds later). Car seemed well balanced as always but the tires were slippery.

My GT350 felt exactly as you just described by the end of Saturday at my last track weekend. To be honest it was better at higher speeds but not much. It was still balanced, but inputs had to be very gentle. For Sunday, I swapped to another set of tires/wheels for Sunday and found a lot of new grip and speed.

Bottom line: My 350R-spec Cup2’s had enough heat cycles (~25) on them that the Goodyear SC3’s were quicker and more confidence-inspiring…. by a couple seconds per lap. Unless you’re talking about high speed only, I’d say it’s more about mechanical grip than aero.

In a couple weeks I’ll take the car to Road Atlanta on a new set of Conti ExtremeContact Force tires. Pretty psyched to try them. Will let you all know what I learn.

given where you live, it should be easy to score some Pirelli DH slicks

That would be interesting for sure. Do you know if they come in sizes consistent with 19x11 wheels?

Yes - 305/690-19. Sorta hard to get these days, though, as they are from the Ferrari Challenge series, so somewhat limited in usage.

Used these should be around $125 - 150 per tire, depending on amount of life remaining in them.

Have you ran the 315’s before? I was told you need at least -3 degrees of front camber to clear which I have but also have heard they feel a little heavy/ bulky compared to the 305.

I have not. A close friend has and he likes them. I was told the R did not need spacers but the stadard GT350 does
