Hello guys,

I have a bottle of acid shampoo, the product is this one: EN_data-sheet-PURIFICA.pdf (labocosmetica.com) .
I have used if with great success on the little Lancia of my wife, the car is 7 years old and always garaged but for most of it's life it was just left to just dry in the air after every wash, so the car had a lot of limestone on it (the car is a deep blue so it was very well visible).
It took off years of the look of the paint, it looks like brand new now. Maye I have to do the treatment once more but the difference is just impressive.

My other cars do see a different life, these are regularly dried and they very rarely see the rain, the GT probably once or twice in a year.

Do you think that is a good idea to use it once a year as a preventative measure or I risk making damages in the long run?
The look of the paint on all three cars improved, relatively to their age and usage. None of the three cars is coated or protected, just hand washed with neutral ph products. The Mustang after its last wash developed some very light spots but I don't think it's because of the shampoo but because the water just evaporated because of strong wind (with little gentle rubbing they just go away).

The use of acid-leaning soaps is becoming more and more popular in the detailing world. The main goal is for limescale or mineral deposit removal, but they can also be used as a strip/decon wash prior to coating.

As a basic rule, any time you go above or below pH neutral, you increase the cleaning or stripping ability.

Acidic leaning products target mineral deposits, removing them from the paints surface and preventing further damage or re-appearance of water spots. Acidic products will also strip waxes and sealants.

Alkaline leaning products have a degreasing effect, targeting oilier contamination and dirt. Again, alkalinity will strip waxes and sealants.

If your car is ceramic coating, typically these alkaline and acidic products have been designed to opperate within a coatings pH range. For example, Carpro Cquartz UK 3.0 has a pH tolerance between 3 and 13. Carpro Decale sits at about 3.5 to 4.0 in pH, while Lift sits at about 11 to 12 pH. What that means is you can periodically use a either soap in a safe manner to unclog and deep clean the coating without stripping it off.

How often you use those products will come down to vehicle usage, so that could end up being anywhere between 3 and 12 months. Obviously, not driving in the rain and having the car garaged for most of its life will decrease the need for these soaps.

Thank you @DFB5.0, as usual a clear and comprehensive explanation.

So basically is, use them when you need their specific actions (and thank you for clarifying the specifics of both) but don't overdo it.

Correct.

Using heavy duty products on a regular basis can speed up the decline of rubber trims and the like.
