Anything less then max you can feel / hear the blower motor going up and down. Almost like a voltage issue. Is this common or a sign of an underlying problem elsewhere?

My 2015 did that, and Ford said it was "normal".....BS! My 2016 does not do it.

yes I had the same problem on my 15, dealer replaced resistor which didn't fix it, then they replaced blower motor itself and they claim it's fixed.

Just picked mine up from the dealer for the same issue. They replaced the blower motor and told me it didn't solve the problem. They let me pick up the car and they are waiting on ford to get back to them to notify what should be looked at next. Atleast they know there is a problem even after replacing the blower motor. Maybe next week I'll have some more info and I'll post up as soon as I do.

I'm not sure where I've read this..... It's supposed to simulate a natural breeze. This air flow was actually designed that way. Nissan, for example, had the same feature..... It was referred by them as 'Breezy Air'. They described it as: a gentle, fluctuating "natural breezes" by randomly changing the volume of air flowing through the upper and front vent outlets for greater occupant comfort.
BTW, My GT does the same.....

Yeah.... It's called 'Fluff'.
The remarkable thing about this is the fact that dealers are not aware of this feature (The case in 'Jesse R's' post above.) So the dealers are replacing perfectly good blower motors and then they scratch their heads and wait for Ford to 'get back' to them regarding this so called condition.

I highly doubt this is a feature on the stang. I remember reading about a feature of that sort on higher end luxury vehicles. The first 4 months of owning the vehicle the air worked flawlessly. Not one issue. No surging, constant air flow and no fluctuations in air speed. The past two months it started surging. It's not a feature of the vehicle, it is a mechanical or electrical issue. There is nothing gentle, or natural about it. Nor have I ever experienced wind blowing in the way my a/c is..lol not even in a Florida hurricane.

I have not noticed the surging since the blower was replaced.

The blower will change speeds if the climate control is set to Auto.
