Thanks. Was paced but the way the cars spaced out it worked out pretty well. I don’t know that you can have much more fun for 50 bucks.

Picture and videos just don’t do that wide banking any justice.
What speeds did they let you get up to?

Talladega has the steepest banking so I guess that had the A.T all confused

That was my guess too. It was almost an instant shutdown. Don’t guess Ford engineers ever figured anyone would have these cars at over a 30 degree angle and not be wrecked.

Soooo.....what did the car do? Anything funny?

I was a passenger for laps at MIS decades ago, during the Honda Accord launch, and that was really impressive/scary. The NASCAR race had run the weekend before, and you could see where the cars had crashed into the barrier on our right as we zipped by at 100+MPH.

I took my 99 trans am there a few years ago.the way to go fast at least once is lag behind the last car. Pretty far and then hit the throttle.i got up to 140.wirh top down.they didn't flag me but I only did it once, that time.i did it once more in a 1970 got got up to 125,but was afraid the wheels would come off on a 40 year old car.but it was fun.yeah that banking was fun,a little scary at first.

You guys really need to try one of the stock car driving experiences at least once in your life.

Free tip - take a ride-along (if they're allowing such things yet) before you take your own drive.

I did a ride along in Vegas years ago. Hit about 140. Glad I did it then because I don't know if I could get my carcass through the side window again.

I did Atalanta a few years back. They said I was going 150 but there is no way. Wife did a ride along but loved much more in our own car Talladega. Really should have done two sessions though. One session just gets rid of the jitters and I think the second session would’ve been a lot more fun.

Those turns are like mountains.
150 would have almost certainly been a peak speed rather than an average speed for a lap. Her ride-along might well have been at a faster pace than your drive.

I did Darlington once on a motorcycle! They said it would be 50 MPH. It the next thing I know we are up on the banking at 100 mph! Those are steep banks, much less than that and the bike would not want to stay up on the banking....

They let you run flat out on the limiter in the turns. That why I don’t think it’s anywhere close to 150. I would think 110 maybe. They embellish greatly on the speeds.
My wife bought me a Racing Experience thing here at one of the tiny ovals. Looked and sounded like a Nascar and was a lot of fun to drive. The rules and regs for safety kept the speeds to nowhere near what they said we were doing. Couple years later and watched a good friend do a similar thing in the different state but he just did a ride along. Driver told him they were doing 150 but I doubt they broke 100. Still a lot of fun though!
