Hi guys, with so many people at home right now I thought I would start a thread on good movies you could watch with your spare time. I will keep this going until I run out of good films to post up. Should be awhile.

A new film will be posted every Wednesday. Alomost all of these films can be viewed online for free. Feel free to post your own movies you think others might like, most of the films will be 1930-1960, but I will post some newer classics too.

This weeks film is THE SEA HAWK, 1940. One of Errol Flynn’s best movies and a film I recommend to people who find B&W movies boring. Also Brenda Marshall is amazing.

The Sea Hawk is good, but it doesn't compare to Captain Blood, IMO.

Time for another’s classic. This weeks film is On Dangerous Ground 1951 with Robert Ryan, Ida Lupino, aka the girl in my avatars, and Ward Bond. This is one of my favorite films, the music score by Bernard Herrmann is fantastic. This movie shows what’s cops could get away with in the 1950s that today would get them kicked of the job or maybe land them in prison. This movie has great atmosphere, well worth a watch.

Have you seen, “I am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang”? A wonderful film released in the early 1930’s, starring Paul Muni who plays a WWI veteran who faces a series of hardships shortly after returning to the US after the war. The film provides a nice story to shed some light on the road that many of the veterans may have experienced upon their return stateside. My favorite line is at the end of the movie when Muni responds to the female actress, Helen Vison’s question, “How will you live”? His response,...

I have heard of the film but I have never seen it. Mid 1930s is about as far back as I watch, however I will find the time and give it a watch. Thanks I appreciate any recommendations you guy have. I watched a movie from the 40s the other day with Paul Muni, I didn’t realize he went back that far. Thanks again.

Another Wednesday another movie. I just watched this one last week I had never seen it before and judging by the opening song credit sequence I didn’t have high hopes. However this movie was a blast of fun and a real good time. The story is about the head of a big auto company looking to fill the top management job at the company. He brings the three best men and their wives to New York City to judge which couple is the best for the job. Here is a link to watch the full movie. https://m.ok.ru/video/2494543301264

Today enjoy one of my favorite foreign films. Ballad of a Soldier 1959. I like the style of 1950s and 60s Soviet film making. I found one with subtitles so no need to know Russian to watch. Only real problem with the film is the portrayal of the Soviet officials, everyone is a nice guy. That’s is what it is. At least the film doesn’t preach communism.

Sorry I missed a week guys, I have been very busy and haven’t had much time. To make up for it I will post two movies this week. First the 1942 war classic Mrs Miniver, and then the 1950 follow up, The Miniver Story. The follow up is not a good sequel at all, the story does not work with the original films characters, it is however a good film and probably my favorite of the two.
