It's proven that they do break, but so do a lot of other things. We try to replace the weak links, that's what we do. Engine components, driveline components etc.Opg/cs scare is a scam
I agree that replacing opg does not fix a possible resonance issue, but the billet opg may move the problem to a more robust component. I suppose we will see in the coming years if the new damper reduced opg failures.That’s the thing....ford said years ago that it’s a resonance issue and that a different damper could fix it, but also said some aftermarket dampers could make it worse. My experience in engineering is that fighting a resonance issue by upgrading the material of the broken part does not address the root cause, and often just delays or moves the problem. Then, ford swaps to an expensive viscous damper in 2018. It could be circumstantial and I hope I don’t wind up eating my words, but the problem might have been solved for us.
