I have a 16 PP GT and looking into possibly throwing a 3.15 auto rear pumpkin into my manual Whippled car.

I have seen people go from 3.73's to 3.31 or even 3.55 but haven't seen many going to a 3.15. Anyone made this swap?

3.15 would take all of the fun out of the M6. You'd hardly need to get out of 2nd on the street.

Car rarely sees track time and will eventually see a 6R80 or some other auto swap at some point.

Currently running RXT

I'm doing this exact thing right now. Boostworks doing the install. 680-700rwhp manual car. My main reason was Texas Mile run. I'll let ya know in a couple weeks!

I don't do 1/4 mile, so felt safe with this swap.

Swapped from PP 3:73s to 3:31s. Really great move in my opinion.

My car hasn't made it to the track yet and I just blew out my second MT82 this weekend..:frusty:
Reason I asked on clutch is that is what I'm running as well...I even changed my shifting habits. Some will argue that its not the clutch others wont. All I know is I cant keep putting things in that break...car seems down more than up and running. I went a bought a TR6060 this weekend. I was contemplating on going to 3.31's as well but with the gearing in the 6060 3.73's might even be on the minimal side. ..but auto swap you probably would be fine going that way.

Going to 3.31 requires pumpkin change or just gears? I looked for 3.31 gears on AM and couldn't find them. Reached out to JDM and they told me the 3.31 are not available. I'm confused.....

You can do whatever you want. Buying ring n pinion is cheap. Finding a shop that can set them up correctly is a gamble. I chose to buy a complete pumpkin from Ford. $930 You do not have to adjust speedometer. :)

That's actually not bad considering the labor to install the gears, and you could sell your 3.73 pumpkin to someone else. Pumpkin you could do yourself easily. Did this pumpkin keep the torsen?

He's saying if you buy the entire pumpkin from ford instead of just swapping the gear in your current pumpkin, you don't need the flare tool.
