I have been out of the racing scene for 15 years and very surprised with the numbers people are making. What I am missing? Twice the power that came from the factory with a SC, fuel mods and tune? No heads No cams? Am I missing something.

2015+ 5.0L Stock 430-460 HP, Slap a supercharger, fuel mods and good tune and jump to 700+ HP reliable? I´m I correct?

    Thanks
    Jay

That's right. stock gen 2 is about 360whp or so. 720whp is very doable with one of the bigger blowers, or a smaller blower with some octane booster or race gas. nothing else besides some exhaust and maybe a cheap manifold if you have a centrifugal.

This is why the coyote has become such a popular engine platform. Why do you think coyote swaps have become so popular? The coyote just loves boost and is super efficient as far as HP per llter compared to the 2 and 3 valve motors. It is miles ahead of them.

my 2014 with a stock gen 1 motor made 740 wheel with just a blower (Procharger D1SC), Boss 302 intake manifold, full exhaust, and E85. This number is well above the safe limit of the gen 1 motor but with a gen 2 anything 800 and under is considered safe. I now have a built motor in that car with heads and cams looking to make 800-850 wheel. Still waiting on break-in miles and a retune

Waoooo. Had no idea. These engines are the way to go then if I am looking for a fun 700 rwhp street toy and some track with out investing much.

In other cars you would have to invest 2 or 3 times more to get that power and still not been reliable.

Gen 1’s are cool because you can make them really light. So if you score a gen2 shortblock right off the bat and sell the gen1 you’ll be good for a while.

For sure. Hard to beat an 11-14 S197 with a gen 2 shortblock for a budget drag build or just straight line fun street car. Obviously the S550 has a huge handling advantage with the IRS, stronger motor from the factory, and the interior quality is way nicer.

Feed it fuel and boost. Put R compound tires on. Take some doods to Gapplebees.
