Drive a truck that has one in it with a load. The displacement deal becomes very apparent. Obviously the best in that scenario is a diesel but some don’t use them enough to justify the cost. The old v10’s were screaming in work scenarios.

I'm going to assume Ford will change the heads and cam for a more HP oriented engine. No reason it couldn't put out 750 or more HP N/A

If they keep the iron block I can see it packaged as a drag pack.

NA coyote vs NA Godzilla the slowzilla has zero chance.
I don't see many coyote's in the no prep or pro mod fields. The few I do see are not competitive.

Then you weren't really looking then.

The coyote is a great engine but Ford dropped the ball by not increasing the bore centers.

It really can't compete with 481x's

What would be sweet is if Ford puts dual overhead cam heads on the 7.3

Im missing something. I seam to be the only one not excited by the godzilla engine. Less power and more weight than the coyote. Just more tq. I feel its a big step backwards in time.
I agree it's a non-starter in pickup truck tune. It would need significant changes to be useful in a Mustang. And Chevy's 7 liter LS engine makes what, 505 HP? So yeah, 7.3 seems big, but if it only makes power like an LS, 7.3 really isn't very big.

My old V10 F250 SD pulls really well. 24x,xxx miles, still works fine. Gets 11 mpg highway with or without a trailer. I agree they are good for pickups for sure.

Really for OHC, you'd want a different engine block without the cam tunnel and lifter supports. But I 100% agree a 6 or 7 liter with DOHC is a much better choice than a pushrod engine. Yes you can make a lot of power with pushrods (NASCAR), but within current emissions rules I don't think it's very easy to make much more than a 5.0 DOHC engine.

I will give you that on they need a alloy block. That would be good for 100lb diet. I would be way more excited if it was a 7.3L DOHC. The 7.3 should be making well over 500hp with ease. Its basically a refreshed old school big block and it was nothing to make big power with those.
Not a big block.....don't let the displacement fool ya.
Very large small block or small medium block.
Bore spacing is only 4.53 inches.
That engine in truck form with a 93 octane tune does make over 500hp.

Tell that to Joe Steele, then get back to us.
An extra 180 cubes with heads that flow the same or better the bigger engine will make more power. Hooking it up is another story.

People I have talked with who have big twin turbo coyote's say the 2 step ruins the timing chains.

I've never heard of the dude you mention but good for him. I hope he wins.

How about a proper flat plane crank with a center balance shaft???

We’re at a mile in elevation and that really hurts the output on alot of engines. I had a v10 in my 2019 F450 work truck. It ran ok and the truck was 10,500lbsish. The gearing really helped it, but the fuel economy was 7.5 on average. I will say it never missed a beat though.

Ronnie Sox would be proud.

A knocking noise made him pull out of eliminations, wonder if it was timing chain slap?

Sure lets go backwards in tech. And for those who think you can just add boost and go.. you're sadly mistaken. NA coyote vs NA Godzilla the slowzilla has zero chance. Also if you want serious understeer, that's a GREAT way of going about it. Remember peeps.. Chevies top dog engine is a 5.4L NA 700hp DOHC. Even they seen the light.
... isn't the ZZ572 over 720 HP?
Also there is a new 630 CI engine, not sure stats on that.
