Morning guys

My car has the the 3.15s. Wanting to go with the 3.55s but curious what has actually worked well for any of you all? I will be leaving off the trans brake & 2 step when I make this change.

I think 3.55 is really good on the street.

Anyone doing anything higher than the 3.55s? My new convertor has a 4000 stall, I'm not concerned about streetability at all. I think with the 6r80 1st gear stops being useful with anything over the 3.55.

It's only as useful (or not) as your grip.

If you've got the grip, you'll launch better with a 4.09 vs 3.55. If you're skating on street tires and stock suspension, yes going higher than 3.55 is not going to be useful at all.

With the 6r80 first gear being 4.17, a 4.09 rear gear would be absolutely useless. This has been discussed heavily going back to the gen 1 coyotes and the general consensus is to keep the 3.15 stock gears and just choose a converter that will work best for your setup. I remember there was one guy with a gen 1 coyote that tried a bunch of different gear sets from 3.31, 3.55, and 3.73 and the best results he got was with 3.31 gears. going from a 3.15 to 3.31 is not worth the cost though in my opinion which is why I recommend to just spend the money on a converter.

I have a 2016 GT premuim/ no PP. power train is all stock. I am scheduled for March 22, for my local Ford dealership to replace my 3.15 with 3.73s. I have always replaced gears in my other solid axle mustangs. Gears always seemed to make the car so much more fun. So I thought I would start with that. Have any of you guys ran 373‘s without any other mods?
The only other thing I am planning to do to the car is a tune.

Honesty I would just save money for a converter. You will get more bang for the buck as far as performance goes in reducing your quarter mile times. If you are only street driving, and still want to do gears instead of a converter, I wouldn't go higher than 3.55. 3.73 or higher on the street will be spin city in 1st and 2nd gear.

This is an extremely conservative approach.

Well i think it would also be important to know how @Lunar plans to drive his car. I'm sure your 3.73's work well for you on a prepped track with full suspension, drag tires, and centri blower. On the street would be an entirely different story.
