50th anni grill and velossa big mouth

Has anyone tried using velossatech big mouth with a non-fanged grill?
On their website it says it doesn't work but I was wondering if it could still work. Do the fangs provide structural support of some kind that the big mouth needs?

If the Big Mouth can sit flush behind the grill, then it should provide support. You'd just need to take a dremmel or something and open up the closed spaces that would block the airflow?
