Last weekend I installed a Magnaflow competition cat-back system. In a couple of weeks I'm going to order either ARH or SW headers and get a Lund tune from Beefcake. I'm not a fan of CAI's, and they only seem to be worth 5-10hp on these cars anyway.

That being said, is it possible to get to, or exceed 500bhp with this setup?

No, not even at the crank!

To achieve 500BHP crank you will also need to add a GT350 intake manifold, GT350 throttlebody and a suitable CAI. You should then be very close to 500BHP crank, expect 440-460WHP.

My car will be on the dyno later today. Mods in my sig. If I get 440-460whp, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Question. Does a CAI become more effective and actually produce more HP when paired with a GT350 manifold? As in with the stock manifold it will get you 5 HP, but with a GT350 it will give you 40? Half serious about this question.

In order to answer your specific question, first someone would have to adapt the stock CAI to work with the gt350 manifold. One way to do this would be to buy the Airaid MIT and a 4x3 coupler. Next, they would have to get an aftermarket CAI. Third, they would have to have the car tuned on both setups. Then dyno'd back to back.

That is a lot of time and money spent just to answer a question. I don't see any members doing that because most people wont want to waste money on an extra part they may not even keep and the extra tuning. They will just get an aftermarket CAI and be done with it.

I personally would like to see this tested as well. I know with the 11-14's, the stock airbox really didn't give up much to an aftermarket CAI, even when paired with a Boss manifold.

Maybe one of the shops like JDM could do the testing, but it may not be worth their time.

With my 2011 I ran the Boss Intake and my car was faster with the stock airbox than one of the major aftermarket companies brand. By 2-3 tenths consistantly.

This sealed stock air boxes are better for real world usage and 1/4 mile times.

If I go 350 intake I am leaning towards the air raid CAI as it is closest to the stock design. :)

For comparison, my '14 GT auto has just tuning, off-road H-pipe, and GT500 mufflers for power mods. Puts down 435 rwhp, so assuming a 12% drivetrain loss for the automatic and that works out to about 494 hp at the crank. If you're adding LT headers to the equation, I can certainly see you hitting a bit over 500 hp at the crank with your '15 GT.

Stickers. You need stickers all over the car. Magnetic stickers even produce more HP because magnets.

+1

GT350 intake manifold + TB, LT off-road headers, Tune with e85 should certainly get you over 500BHP.

Anyone have a torque curve for a 5.0 w/GT350 intake. I know the GT350 suffers on the bottom end. It doesn't seem worth it to make a few extra HP at 7500-8200 just to lose the entire bottom end, unless you're road racing, where you can keep the RPMs up.

Not a fan of CAI? How much power did that catback give you?

It loses no bottom end torque, this has being proven now when fitting the 350 intake setup to a GT, bottom end power is the same as regular car with a tune, no losses. :)
