Hi all,

So hoping you guys can help!

I Use an independent garage who I trust who specialises is focus RSs. Im a bit unsure what to order ahead of my service with him. Car is 2016 with 20k on it. I run a panel filter so was thinking:

Oil
Oil filter
Cabin filter
Plugs?
Brake fluid depending if it was last year we did it.
Anything else you guys would have done?

Anyone know other than ford where I can order the genuine bits?

This is what I've done:

Oil/filter after first 1k miles and then every year.
Cabin filter yearly.
Brake fluid before 4% moisture.
Trans and diff I did around 20k miles - from the colour and contents it definitely needed doing.
Plugs I changed around 20k, I wanted to check the gaps and thought I may as well just change them.
Coolant I've changed several times after fitting coolant reservoir, pipes, oil cooler, leaks, oh and when my oil cooler failed.

Plugs on the GT are good for at least 60K before I'd even think about changing them. Technically the service life is 100k. Your servicer is probably used to turbo engines which typically have way shorter plug intervals.

I use:

Motul 660 brake fluid
Red Line 50104 diff
Royal Purple 1512 Synchromax trans
NGK LTRIX-11 plugs
Ford Performance FL820 oil filter
Motorcraft FR3Z-19N619-A cabin filter
Millers Alpine coolant
AP22U & APU16U wipers

It felt a bit smoother shifting but the oil looked dirty and had specks in it, like the engine oil did after the first change from the bedding in process.

You could spend all day reading up on which oils to use, everyone swears by something different. We also don't have everything the Americans do over here and some we do is very expensive. The TLDR seems to be as long as you use a quality brand that meets Fords specifications you'll be ok.

You can pick most of these up on Amazon, although I did just see 1x NGK spark plug on there for £30 😂

I read the plugs weren't gapped well from the factory. On inspection though they were actually fairly consistently gapped to 0.048 but I already had them out, so replaced them anyway,

This is the 5 year service schedule - it is only an interim service assuming the car has been serviced as per schedule.

Thanks so much for that. Do you know where I can get all the schedules from? It was done at ford for the first few years and my independent last couple.

ETIS - if you get a login and then put in your VIN you can generate a service schedule. It will also notify of FSA's

Whereabouts in the country are you ? t Theres a few independants that we all seem to trust with our babies, GT 101, Modurstang, Hendy to name a few.

I have used GT 101 for the last couple of years once mine was 3 years old and they have everything and basically tell me what the car needs or doesnt need.
