I did an oil change at 1k. Now at 4k oil is just above the bottom hole on the stick. After changing oil the level is at the same place on the dipstick. I always check oil level After the car has set overnight before starting. How's everyone oil level after a change? Should I add more than 10 quarts until it's on the full mark?

I put 10 quarts in ( two 5 quart jugs) started it and checked in the morning and it’s half a quart low.

Assuming you have used the stock filter and indeed put the required amount listed in the manual for an oil/filter change, I can only suggest that the dipstick is, for some reason, not correct. What you can do is let the car sit so it can drain down well, pull the dipstick and use a file to create a new "full" line across it, and add only when below that mark, and only up to that mark.

Somewhat divergent from you problem, but when I worked at a Freightliner dealership many years ago, if an engine required a new dip stick (for whatever reason), the new one did not come with marks on it. The mechanic would do a full oil change with filter. Fill the engine with a quart or two short, run the engine and then mark the "low" point on the dip stick, then add the final amount and mark that as "full".

I should add that when I said let the car sit, this would be after running the engine for a minute or two to get the fresh oil circulated through the filter.

I did put 10 quarts Motorcraft 5w-20 full synthetic oil. Pre filled the fl500s filter. Started her up & backed out of garage & into the shop. Sat overnight then checked the level that's just above the bottom hole on the dipstick. It's at the same exact spot where it was before the change with 3000 miles on old oil. I have changed oil in everything I've owned for the last 30 years & have always put the recommended amount of oil in & never be at the low mark on the stick!

When I did mine didnt pre-fill the oil filter. Used (2) 5qts Pennzoil Platinum Full Syntethic 5w30. Maybe some issue with the dipstick.

As long as the level doesn't drop any between 4000 mile oil changes I'll consider myself fortunate. Some of the others on here are not so lucky it seems.

Mine sits between the two holes exactly in the middle of the crosshatch with 10 quarts of oil in it.

Mine has never shown on the top marks/hole. I used to read that it was much worst to have too much oil than it is to be just slightly low.
