Unless the car was 4500lbs, you wouldn't gain a thing.

It depends on which gear you launch from and also what RPM you shift at, plus which gear and at what RPM you go through the traps in/at. Also tire size.
With my A10, I launch in 2nd gear at 2500 rpm and shift at 6000 rpm. At the traps, I'm in 6th gear at 4500 rpm.
I currently run a 3:15 gear, however I will be switching to a 3.31 gear doing the off season and am currently collecting parts for a 3.55 carrier and a 3.73 carrier.
I recommend moving up one gear at a time, collecting data, and then moving up to the next set of gears. I do the same with all modifications (one at a time).

There is some data out there, going up or down one step for example 3.55 to 3.73 will make very little difference, imo not worth the 1k or so price tag for little gain. For myself I have a 19 m6 with 3.55s and people that go to 4.09 seem to be able to notice some gains, nothing crazy and that's 2 steps shorter.

Race weight, TQ/RPM curve/range, and a slide rule. Math doesn't lie.

Isn't HP peak at 7200 on the 18 up?

Gear for going through the traps at redline or just below.

If you trap 120 find a gear tire size that gets you 120 Mph at 7000 Rpm.

For my car, that equals 3.55 to go through the traps in 3rd gear at 7200 or 4.88 goes through at 7000 in 4th. I shift at 7400.

4.09 will probably slow it down most of the time, BONE STOCK 3.55 are faster in my experience . Soon as you start to mod, e85 tune long tubes etc. 3.15 's for the win.

He ran 4.09's and and went to 3.15's IIRC.

4.09's are the wrong gear for the A10

3.15's are the right gear, They'll keep you in 4th on the 1/8th and 5th on the 1/4 on a 28" tire.
