So it’s 2 different caps. A twist on cap for the smaller bottom end, and a pressure fitted Tupperware style cap for the top end. The primary purpose is to keep oil in and dust out in between uses or during transport….. but for simplicity I just say they’re dust caps. I still advocate people wipe out the excess oil with a paper towel in between uses….. even if the bottom cap is water tight.

edit: also, with the caps installed, the funnel will stand up on a table top from the top or bottom.
