Actually, the 3.31 or 3.55 are perfect gears for the EB. A turbo engine depends on load to produce enough exhaust flow for spooling the turbo. A turbo engine also produces a lot of torque down low, which means you need less gear to accelerate the car. The factory turbo Buicks came with a 3.42 gear, which matched the 3.8T/200R4 perfectly. Same goes for the MT82/6R80....they both have fairly short 1st, 2nd gear ratios, so a steeper rear gear would mean those 2 gears would almost be worthless.
I love the 355 in my PP ecoboost. . I think they are the best gears for it.. i actually think 355 gears are the best option even for the V8. Its the perfect balanced gear for performance on the strip, back roads and highway wile getting better fuel economy and lower rpms then the 373's.. i had 373's in my 67 Camaro and on the highway the rpms were always to high.
It all depends on the transmission gearing and power train characteristics. I had the 3.73 in my 11 GT and they worked great there. I wouldn't want them on my 15 though.
In my prior 96 DOHC Cobra, I had 4.30's installed... Those were an awesome gearing matched with the manual transmission (even though the T45 trans sucked and could not handle the 7500 RPM's of the DOHC).
The 2.0T Geneis has 3.91 rear gearing... I love the 3.91's...
For an old school 5.0 pushrod, 3.73's are the perfect street gear, while 4.10's offer a tad more torque off the line.
