I had a 3.15 gear on my old 5.0 and now I have a 3.55. Both Lund E85 and Jlt except the 3.55 has a H pipe. Both stock tire

1st video: 60-130 (3.15)
2nd video: 50-130 (3.15)
3rd video: 40-120(3.55)
Also ran a 60-110 and I got to see his taillights(3.55)
All against the same bolt on 10sp Ss full drag
His car pulls hard on top end and low gears but I’d keep up now he beats me. Should I switch my new car to a 3.15?? I’m more roll since there’s no drag strips nearby

Closet races ever. I would say nothings changed much at all. Bet you from 0-60mph with full traction, your 3.55 gear is quicker.

You can't just say 1 particular gear is "fastest". Awfully vague statement. There are so many variables that need to be taken into consideration.

Yeah my car responds a lot faster now after a tap on the pedal. But is there a big difference with the 3.15 and 3.55 for rolls? 40+ rolls

Gearing only really matters in first gear imo, or unless you are preventing a shift in the 1/4 mile in a manual car. With a 10r80 the gears are all so close together that it doesnt even matter I think, and the shifts are so fast and violent that it may actually actually help to have an extra shift before the traps.

Also you can just launch in 2nd in a 10r80.

This isn't correct (however i know what you mean), yes the 10r80 shifts fast and violent and all that good stuff up to 5-6-7 shifts. The 10r80 clutches get smaller towards the OD gears and depending on your gear ratio you may end up putting one of the shifts before the end. in OP case roll racing. HP tire diameter etc so many other variables to consider but at the base of it those 3 measurements can get you near the correct gear ratio if you know how to do the math

I have 3.15s in my GT/CS, I'm not the guy who roasts the tires anymore( I love my tire/rim setup), so even though it's slower off the line, it does move out very fast over 40mph. I've caught and passed many of cars.
