Taped my dash cam and flashlight in the engine bay, then went for a short ride...

Turn up the volume.

Thoughts?

I don't think the 2K rattle is the cam driven fuel pump.

Well clearly you have the rare diesel Mustang option. But to me, it just sounds like resonance. From what? Who knows. Many objects have resonant frequencies.

Seems just fine. Engines make noise, that's normal.

Is the car burning any oil?

If you've done mods, you should list them in your sig line. That's very helpful in these types of situations.

Every 5.0 from 2011 has this noise. It's no issue.

My 2011 had the same sound, but i never paid it much attention until my 2019 where it was more noticible. I'm not worried about it at all. I only hear it if im listening for it in parking lots anyway.

Not to be rude.. but this gif sums this topic up perfectly. It's been asked at least a dozen times in the last few months.

Sounds mechanical and intended in nature. I mean it comes and goes methodically.

I don't have this issue but have seen a few posts. I was surprised that the cause is not known. It sounds similar to direct injection noise. Does it go away above 2000 rpm or is it drowned out from other noises?

Approaching 15K miles on my 2019 and it has had this 2K sound from the beginning. Burns maybe 1/4 quart between changes. Do yourself a favor and drive it like you stole it. You're going to drive yourself mad.

What rattle ? Just sounds like the VCT got louder in the 18+ Mustangs.

I'm not concerned, but I do find it annoying at times and it shouldn't be there. Sucks Ford is basically telling everyone to just put up with it. That's the price of cheap HP.

Amazing no one has figured out exactly what it is. Someone in another 2k rattle thread said when he installed the Ford racing tune, it went away. He also stated techs at the dealer said that was their experience as well. I have no reason to doubt him, but at the very same time, don't feel like pitching about 1.5K to verify it either.

I love the car, always one downshift away from a riot...

In my case, it peaks around 2-2.5K rpm, ESPECIALLY when cold, and more or less disappears beyond that, but I can still hear it faintly up through 3.5K

Our cars are a match made in heaven. Mine is exactly like that.
