I have a 2019 Mustang GT 10speed. Unfortunately my car has the 2k engine rattle. Took it into Ford and they of course claimed it is normal. I am looking to mod the car. Very hesitant to do so. Anyone have any long term engine issues with the 2k rattle?

99% certainty you don't have any rattle. It's the DI, nothing more.

Unless you have serious oil consumption, you're GTG.

Thanks! No oil consumption. The engine is strong with the exception of the 2k rattle.

It's not a 2K rattle. It's the engine's DI. With 98.257419% certainty.

I had the worst tick that sounded like my motor was blown, but ceratec fixed it.. and I also have had the rattle since day 1. 34k hard miles redlining multiple gears it about 20 times a day tuned on e85, no major motor issues or anything... some cam phaser stuff and other weird issues though but all good now. I do burn a lot of oil but I expect that considering it do hit 7500+ rpm so often.

Every Gen 3 Coyote has the 2k rattle sound because it is the DI high pressure fuel pump ramping up. It runs off one of the passenger side camshafts.

If the 2K rattle is normal and caused by the DI fuel pump, why hasn't Ford put out a SSM/service bulletin saying that? If would save them a big headache. The dealerships use the BBQ tick SSM to say that all engine noises are "normal", even though the BBQ tick SSM is addressing a different engine noise besides the 2K rattle.

I'd wager most people don't notice the 2k rattle. I know I never noticed it until I read about it on here, then I started hearing it. It's like a game of telephone, and most Mustang owners don't play it because they're not on this website.

I've put a couple of thousand miles on mine since buying it used. I drive it everywhere, I just live in the city so I have short trips. I have the rattle, and a random tick, I just put Pennzoil 5w-20 Platinum in it and drive it like I stole it (once it warms up).

I now have 70k miles on my 2018. Yes, 70k. Had the BBQ tick and 2k rpm rattle the whole time and no issues at all. Also had the BBQ tick on my old 2012 and had a similar but more quiet rattle as well and it had no issues for the 165k miles I had it. I don't baby my cars either.

Send it. It's under warranty. I've had two cars with random ticks, rattles, rolls, and noises.. Both with a blower on them. You'll be okay. By the time it matters, you'll be buying a short block from all the mod's you've done.

I will admit, the rattle sounds obnoxious sometimes but it's not always there.

It may also be why my dealer always adds an "additive" when I get an oil change.

(Nothing to see here people, move along)

I've been waiting to hear from someone that has a higher mileage 2018 GT that has had both of these noises since new. Coming from someone else that has a 2018 with all the same noises, this makes me feel really good hearing from someone that has gotten a good amount of use out of it and the cars still going strong. Thank you for posting!
