Hey guys just purchased a pair of racestars 17x9.5 for my ecoboost , and now I need a pair of drag radials. Did some research but got a lot of mixed reviews as to what size I should go with 26 inch or 28 inch drag radials considering I have 3.15 gears. Any input from you guys would be appreciated .

stick with a 26" the 28" is too much tire. for a 3.15 gear car. unless you make big BIG power stay with the 26"

I run a 28 on my 3.55 A6 GT. The cars probably making about 425whp. It'll cut 1.6 sixtys with the converter. What is your power level?

Also interested. I've always used 28" but switched to a 26" last weekend and unless the finish light was wrong the car shifted into 4th. Always finished at the top of 3rd with the 28". The times were identical though 1.67 and 11.9 @ 114 Doing logs for Lund tomorrow but does that mean it could get faster if they adjust the tune? 3.15 gears maybe 420hp.

We have a 6cyl NA car running 26inch ET streets at our local track . He has a serious issue with wheel spin 1st and 2nd gear . I just put a set of 275/40/17 etstreets on my M6 GTPP over the weekend (for fun) . 1-3rd gear are nothing but smoke on the street . My 275/40/19 MPSS have better torque handling . I'd stay with the 28s . If you add a converter later on you will need the 28s for sure .

28" tires are the way to go.

Haven't had it dynoed but I would say Alittle more than 300whp , we'll be Alittle more with a custom tune and e30, I would love to go with the 28s because it fills the wheel gap more and the looks of a 28inch. But will I be losing MPH in the 1/4 and my ET would suffer from the 3.15 gears with the 28inch drag radial ?

If your anything like I was. When I owned my 4 banger SRT-4. You'll keep modding and grow into the 28s. I started off with a 15/8/24 inch slick and ended up with a 15/10/26 at the end. Besides you need to take into account all the extra torque a turbo produces compared to a NA car.

Gearing in the auto with 3.15's and a 26" tire will put you at 7500rpm through the traps. So if your tune is not setup to shift at 7500+ then you will be shifting to 4th just before the stripe.

Either have the shift points adjusted to 7500ish to run a 26" tire or run a 27"-28" tire.

I sent logs and they adjusted shift points but it still goes into 4th, however I've set new bests 3 weeks in a row on the new tune and I ran both tunes on 2 days. So it still shifts to 4th but is faster, go figure. Wonder if I could cut the same 60' with 28" m&h because I would think that would be optimal but the m/t were so hit or miss for me. 1.66-1.69 very consistently with these 26" m&h. 1.68-1.75 with 28" m/t.

Yea I think I'm gonna try some 26" Hoosiers.... Best drag radials on the market so should cut the same 60ft as 28" m&h and MTs. Any chance can you post your 28" vs 26" times with 60ft included. If anything I might just have them shift it around 5800 at 4th since it's a stock turbo EB and power drops off right around 5600-5800. What is your car shifting at into 4th? I always felt like unless your car is making more than 450+ there's no way a 28 can be faster than a 26 (60ft the same) with 3.15s

Just one man's results. Original tune was 7300, I need to check logs to figure exactly what the next one is at.

I really want to see how it will run with better DA on the 26" drag radials.... Crazy how the 28s are so much less consistent than the 26s. Maybe has to do with the 26s being M&Hs. Either way great 60fts for 3.15 gears

I think the biggest thing was getting a consistent burnout with the M/T's. M&H has some 275/50/17 (28") radials. Would like to get front runners at some point. Love the 3C converter for those 60'
