I noticed that all GT's get 3.55 gears unless you get a manual with the PP1 package then you get 3.73's. Also all mustangs get a traction-loc differential except PP1's and mach 1's.

I can't figure out how to post a certain page from the pdf on here but it is on page 23 under functional equipment

Curious to see part of what is now simply called the Security Package deleted (the electronic steering column lock).
or Ford realized the offering was a scam and no better than the "security" you find on Mopars - which get stolen trivially. And rather than suffer a big-time lawsuit decided to remove the non-feature.

A10 GT’s still get the 3.15’s.

The GT is down to 450 and the Mach 1 is down to 470. Both are down 10hp due to emissions.
Lame.

Yet another argument against upgrading. I wonder if the '22 PCMs are even more locked down than the '21s.

There may be no difference. Ford could’ve rated them a couple hundred rpm lower. Personally I feel there will be no difference in ET.
Didn’t Ford rate the 03 Mach at 305hp and the 04 at 310? Cars ran the same.

I'm not really worried about 10 horsepower but that means upgrading from 19 PP2 to 22 M1 only gains 10 as well. When it was 20 (in 21) it seemed to add another checkbox on the list of reasons to upgrade. I guess it's still more :) . The main reasons I might upgrade are the Tremec, cooling, possibly better aero and suspension tweaks.

I've been saying that we've hit the peak and now future cars will be less enjoyable. Then I saw Grabber Blue and thought, "Wow a 2022 GB Mach 1 HP car would be cool!"

I realize 10 HP isn't much, but there's already the gearing issue with the newer cars, the extremely high prices, the problems getting the car due to manufacturing issues... And do I really want to have to mess with a dealership again? My last experience buying a new Ford (2016 GT350) was really terrible.

10hp is not a big deal to me, besides it’s nothing the aftermarket high performance parts can’t fix!
True, but I try not to break the law. I wish we could get some government officials that would allow a little freedom rather than pushing performance-minded individuals into that kind of choice.

I think that has just killed any thoughts I had of getting a 2022.
Both HP & Torque are down, although that could be in line with the current Export models..
I'm there with you.

Perhaps they're adding GPF filter to US models too, like we have in EU models. Iirc that's what cost us 10 hp.
Or they lowered the power slightly so S650 can look better on paper next year when regular GT gets 480 hp as standard, marketing stuff.
Good thought. Makes sense to me. Although 480 isn't much. Basically more marketing than anything else. I really wish Ford would make a real improvement. It's been 10 years since the 5.0 Coyote came out. It was a nice upgrade over the 4.6, but it's overdue for Ford to make another significant improvement. Something on the order of 550 HP at a minimum if the Mustang is going to continue to weigh almost 4,000 lbs.

Lame.

And the Feds are going to continue trying to push the tuners out of business as well. Another reason to go with something older.

Power reductions "to meet more stringent Emissions requirements"
Actually, goes back several administrations. Joey B hasn't had the ability to enact diddly.

They can't push it that much higher with 5.0 N/A especially if there's emission pressure. They already added 45 hp since 2015-2017 GT. 2005-2009 GT had 300 hp, 2010 315 hp, 2011-2012 412 hp, 2013-2014 420 hp, Boss 302 444 hp. You can see that the power wars caused significant rise in power.

Where does this stop? How much does one really need on the road? I know some want that 700-800 hp with superchargers, but for majority that's nowhere near needed, usable or safe. I mean people got too used to power only ever increasing, the trend might reverse slowly again. They might try to sell S650 with new features over power approach (but who needs that, really).

This will probably soon end with V6 hybrid taking the lead in power, as that's where world is getting.

Sure, round 500 hp would be awesome before V8 gets ditched, perhaps in some more limited edition than regular GT.

Where was this GPF filter when I was married to my first wife ?

Paddle shifters are no longer available on Ecoboost base and premium models except for package 201A and the Ecoboost High Performance package.

If you compare the 5.0 to the 4.0 liter flat 6 Porsche uses you will see that there is significant potential to increase power without increasing displacement. The 4.0 Porsche makes 500 hp, and the 5.0 is 25% larger. I would be satisfied with 625 hp. Even if Ford fell short of Porsche's specific output and got about 580 from the 5.0 I would be ok with that.

And I'm not saying how Ford should do it, though. They could easily just increase displacement to 6.5 or 7 liters and get the power that way.

You are on the wrong forum if you're trying to say we should all be satisfied with what is "needed". In my opinion, we "need" more. Every year. MORE. :like:

Yuck. Yes that would end my interest in purchasing a Mustang GT.

Sure, round 500 hp would be awesome before V8 gets ditched, perhaps in some more limited edition than regular GT.
As long as it's not limited availability. I've had enough of cars that sell for more than MSRP because the manufacturer won't make enough to satisfy demand. And the Mustang is already essentially at 500 hp. It needs a bigger bump. Heck, my 2016 GT350 made 526. It's been quite a few years. Time for an increase.

Like it or not, hp numbers are going to trend downward. Some of the TT V6's are wicked fast. Having come of age in the early 60's, I've been blessed with a plethora of high performance cars. Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes. As the auto makers transition to all EV, this is an inevitable byproduct.

A combination of cost cutting and parts supply I'd bet. Realistically, how many use paddles on a consistent basis ?
