The cosworth, a cool car indeed ! Is that yours or just a pic ?
No it's not mine, but I would have liked one ! :sunglasses:

Excluding the oddballs, the Cosworth range was :
  • Sierra (2WD + RS500 variant)
  • Sapphire (2WD)
  • Sapphire (facelift 4WD)
  • Escort (large turbo 4WD)
  • Escort (small turbo 4WD)
I think moonstone was only available on the 2WD variants, maybe the facelift sapphires got it too ?

I had a facelift sapphire in Ebony :

At that age / time in my life, I think I would have killed myself in an earlier 2WD model ...

You probably have seen this thread, but there is a lot of great detail on how the OTT painted stripes are applied to a GT500:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...-ott-painted-stripes-painting-process.129663/
That thread is no where near how the process goes. If it is a CFTP car, it is trucked over to Penske only after it has been built, with out the wing or carbon fiber wheel. When Penske is done, the car is returned to Ford for the installation of the rear wing and wheels and then goes though a final inspection before it is released from the plant for shipment. The base model with painted stripes is trucked to Penske as soon as it has gone through production and required inspections. Then it is returned to Ford for inspection and then released from plant for shipment.

Yeah, I didn't re-read the thread he posted but pretty sure I had contributed to that thread back in the day. But the part about the car being shipped before factory clear to have stripes added and then the car shipped back to the factory and reintroduced at the clear coating phase is laughable on its face. Even less believable than Smolett's hoax.

I mean seriously who could believe a claim that Ford could clear coat a finished car with interior, glass, tires, suspension, etc.. LoL The masking alone would be impossible. Then there is the heat drying. Not to mention whatever conveying mechanism thru the paint process wouldn't work with all the stuff on a completed car in the way.

Then of course, the the paints themselves would not allow that. Ford is proud of their system that REQUIRES each coat to be applied BEFORE the previous one is fully dry/cured.

I don’t want to ….., but you need to do some research and educate yourself on the process of painting a vehicle. You are completely wrong on almost every aspect. All auto manufacturers use a system that benefits there application of material in a manufacturing process. The reality is a paint application in a shop is far superior to the manufacturing process. You do not EVER want a substrate wether it’s a sealer, base, etc. to be fully cured in a final topcoat application. If any one of those layers is fully cured during the process you have a major failure point due to improper adhesion. A good paint tech can do things if the skill level is there that you will have no idea it was done when if the car was assembled during the application or not.

Since you are just saying the same thing I did, I guess we'll just have to agree to agree.

If my dealership is not given a CFTP allocation, I’m going with an HE car.

The color in those photo's looks like a silver with a light blue tint. I'd rather they brought back the 69-7? non-metallic Solid maroon . But I'm not a fan of silver cars, tiger stripes and all the blotchiness that comes with anything but the best paint jobs in silvers.

I love Brittany blue. I really don’t know why Ford just didn’t reproduce it, same with Grabber Blue on the ‘22 being a different metallic version.
Oh well, they still look good and I hope the Eruption Green looks as good on the Shelby as in the Bronco video.
Fingers crossed.
