Welp, looks like I’m getting my pre order in for a 2022 GT500 w/ all options including track pack and painted stripes. Sales manager said he’ll get me at MSRP, a mustang enthusiast himself. Coming from a 19 GT350R, I hope I am thrilled by the car.

Ahhhhh.... but the question is do they have the allocation?

Yes - according to the sales manager. They’ve also sold a couple GT500s of precious years
Understood, and not to burst your bubble, but there have been so many stories of people being let down because the CFTP was not allocated to the dealership. If they had CFTP allocations in 20 and 21, then you are probably OK. I would put your agreement in writing and put a deposit down if the confidence level is high.

As for the R v 500? The 500 is everything it is supposed to be. I drive the Rs every now and then and when I do, everything is in slow motion.

That’s my plan. Hopefully they will actually have the allocation, I’m not even sure how a dealership can obtain the CFTP “ticket.” Aren’t there certain requirements they have to meet?

Yes, many. They get 1 base allocation for signing up for the shelby program. Additional allocations are awarded on a reward basis. They have to sell a whole lot of mustangs to get additional allocations. Those are base model allocations. To get a CFTP, they have to essentially be a high volume dealer that moves a lot of mustangs and GT500s.

Again, a good indicator would be if they had CFTP allocations in 20 and 21. I would ask that question. If the answer is no, then there is your probable answer.

Makes sense. I know they sold a couple GT500s in 20 and 21 but not sure if they were CFTP. I’ll check with the manager to see if he has the golden ticket allocation. Assuming he does based on our convo as I told him I’m getting a fully optioned one with track pack

Thanks buddy. Does anyone know if the “every third allocation” means they have to sell 3 GT500s to be eligible for golden ticket or if they sell 2, the third would be eligible? Wording is kind of confusing.

Its too early to know if he has a 22 allocation. Your best bet is to find out if they had CFTPs in 20 and 21. If the answer is no, then I would have multiple backups.

I agree with this if they did not get carbon fiber track pack allocations for the previous model year there is little chance that they are going to get them in 2022.

Make sure you get your deal in writing, learn from my mistake where 6 months later the dealer goes back on a verbal deal made.

I almost suffered that fate. Verbal deal = nothing. Get it in writing and give a deposit (specify how it is refundable). To give an MSRP deal for a car that could fetch 20-30K over is leaving money on the table. dealerships generally do not do such a thing.

Such a great description. Every other car on the road seems stationary... pulling onto the highway or pulling out of a parking lot is the same for this car.

Welp, you all were right. The dealership doesn’t have an allocation for the golden ticket. Said he would sell the base @ MSRP however and if he can get the golden ticket by year end, he will get me in.
