Anyone know what Falken tires he used on his winning Mach1? and size ? My cup 2’s were slippery when cold at the Autocross I tried on my GT350R . Lost my concentration and confidence when grip wasn’t there that I expected.
RT660 are also devoid of confidence when cold or wet. The Yokohama A052 is the cold weather tire. With an honorable mention to the Bridgestone re-71rs.

Even at this level, every advantage helps.

Brady, he’s a master of doing everything he can to win and yes it matters. Remember Brady deflated the balls so his receivers could catch a softer ball. Shoes, absolutely have you ever played on a wet field, different spikes do matter.

Yes the car matters, remember George Russell jumping into Hamilton’s car when he was sick for the first time ever and basically dominated the race until his tire was cut.

Yes yes yes, the Car matters as long as the Driver is top notch.

Don’t get fooled, “oh my gosh that guy can drive” the car needs to be competitive too.

The Thread title is correct

2021 Mach 1, Wins SCCA F, Solo National Championship.

Congratulations, Car, Team and Driver
True to a point, but it has been proven that you can have a group of the same cars set up the same, using the same equipment and one driver or team comes to the top. The car needs the driver to be the best or it never wins. Nothing against the mach1 it is a great car, but the driver has proven he can win the title in other vehicles also. It is the complete combo.

In the Spokane/Pacific northwest it’s rare to have a warm day. Thanks for responding. So to clarify, order of choice for a first run ? Yokohama a052, Bridgestone re-71, rt660?

RT660 like Mavisky mentioned - they need some heat to work. If you want tires that work cold, Yokohamas A052 is your jam (sized kinda suck for 19" wheels).

Stop talking facts. OP was focused on GT350 bashing for some reason like all the other threads he's started.

On a cool day, the first run out on the RT660 is at best a practice lap, so yeah, A052>RE71RS>RT660 for cool and/or wet conditions.

The gap between the RT660 and A052 narrows a bit when you can build some heat into the RT660, assuming its warm enough to manage that.

Thanks for your input. The A052 only available in a 295/35 which of course is smaller and taller. The 660 is available in the 315/30 which of course is larger and original aspect ratio . We get three morning runs about 10 minutes apart or Less , then three in e afternoon. Thoughts??

If you don't have super hot days, Yokohama is a no brainer IMO. You have to drive hard to put any heat into tire that large and then try to retain it. Looks how the gearing works for you as well on either of those.

The yokes are soft sidewalled tires and like being stretched a little on a wider wheel. If the gearing isn’t terrible for you, I’d guess the 295/35 yokes will be faster. If its cool, they’ll definitely be faster.

I run the 315 yokes on 18” wheels in CAM and since you’re allowed to run +-1” of wheel size in Street classes, getting some forgestsrs or something made in the right offsets and running 18” yokes would probably be the absolute fastest $$$$ option. (Nevermind, probably wouldn’t work over GT350 front brakes)

I would go for the re71s. I have the 660s, but the last two events have started in the 40s, and it takes until run 3 before I can really push the car. And that's a fairly new tire with minimal heat cycles.

So I say re71s because that's the route I'm trying next. I wish I had more real world feel information for you.

My real world feel information: Re-71rs makes me smile. A052 makes me smile more. RT660 does not make me smile.

A lot of of that has to do with tolerance for being very sideways. 660s shut down too easily when the hooning is supersized. The Bridgestone and the Yoko just make me giggle.

Curious as to all 660’s at the top in finishing?? Dual drivers?? Pre heaters??

In F Street ? Availability. Yokohomas were basically not available all year least year - 315/30R18 magically dropped two weeks before Nats. Falkens were available pretty much all year with no major issues.
