You won't want a 6-speed with a Whipple. The A10 is much better suited for it. You would need to change the gearing on the 6-speed or you'll just never get traction.

Vortech / Procharger on the other hand.... work quite well with the manuals.
Is that the because the stock gearing on the 6-speed is too low for such a powerful engine post upgrade?

Yeah, the ratios being so tight, you just spin like crazy in first and second. It's a lot of power early on. The auto handles it much better. You can get in the power band on a centrifugal easily on a manual though.

Maybe a dumb question, but with the little bit of clearance you have left after the whipple install, would you get any gain on space by going with a different hood? Kinda like the Cobra R style from Cervini? Maybe then have enough room to add the tower brace back...

With the right hood it could work, provided you solve the issue of clearance between the brace and blower. The brace has to be spaced up, although I donā€™t have exact dimensions as to how much. The whipple would be a lot more attractive to me if it allowed for the stock brace and hood

So, Jay from Granger ordered the Cervini GT 500 hood for me, and once my Mach 1 gets shipped to Granger, I have asked Jay to see if the Ford Performance strut tower brace fits. If you need to know the results now, I would not be able to help you. This will not be done until end of March possibly, but I will post what the results are.

@Atlas1 I agree, thatā€™s one of the things holding me up from it. Although I donā€™t mind budgeting in another hood especially if it also means better heat extraction comes with it. Just a little paint and decals to match the original and for the most part, itā€™ll blend right in like the original.

@Codeblue009 definitely keep us posted when it goes on. I assumed some shimming would be in order for the brace, but being able to have it there under the hood just seems to make sense. I canā€™t imagine itā€™s just there for cosmetic appeal.
