I think what the Lightning lap shows is that the S550 has gotten better with time. Before we all get caught up in the 1 second spread between the GT350R and Mach 1 HP, I'd like to point out that all the Mustang's are awesome.

It’s just below that part:

The Mach 1's stopping power comes from 15.0-inch front and 13.0-inch rear iron rotors, and it stops quicker from 70 mph than the GT350 and GT500, requiring 141 feet to both the GT350R's 146 feet and the GT500s' 150 feet. The Bullitt needed 165 feet to come to a halt from 70 mph.
Right! And I thought I read it several times, except the part "how we test our cars" :D

never! :)

So 2 seconds better than the almost identical PP2 (same tires, different trans, no coolers). At least it's still a chasmic 3.5 seconds faster than the SS/1LE which only costs 25% less...

(PS. I'll go back to my "mach1 is a rip-off" thread now...)
LOL Matt oh will you just quit fighting it and buy a Mach already? You know you want one!

But if anyone who doesn’t mind the visibility can find a new 1LE 2SS for 25% less than the $55,000 I paid for my 700A HP, they should jump on it!

PP2 was on my wishlist for a long time, then I read they don't sell it in Europe. You always get the best stuff for lot cheaper... At least here the rest of the world got some dibs officially too, that's important for us :like: Improved automatics too, yay.

The looks make up for it and exceed it by far 😁 For me at least, but guess for many others too.

I'm pretty sure there is quite a bit more that is different in the Mach 1 with HP compared to the GT PP2 than just the transmission and coolers... For one, it has the GT350 intake and a tune giving it 20 more hp. Plus, there are a few more go-fast bits in suspension, steering, and aero.

Also, the 1LE is only marginally cheaper when you consider the deals that Granger and Horsham are offering. So far as I could tell on some 'maro forums, no such dealers were offering discounts for the Camaro. (And even if you don't consider those deals, I don't know where you're getting 25% from)

Exonerated! M1HP value just went up huge, hahahaha until the 2024 Mustang is released. Fun stuff.

Just saying the M1HP is legit and depending on driver, it will hold it's own against many competitors on a Road Course.

from the article.......

"This cornucopia of Mustang parts seems to be the perfect combo. The Mach 1's 2:51.4 time is 0.4 second quicker than the GT350R's. Plus, that time is good enough to make the Mach 1 the new king of LL2, the mostly affordable sub-$65K class. We're guessing that record will stand for at least as long as it took to create the Mach 1."

That is just awesome! The Mach 1 was runner up for ‘21 Car of the Year on the Straight Pipes YouTube channel, losing to the 5 Blackwing.

I think one feature you are all forgetting about is the rev matching. I drove a Mach 1 at Radford this past weekend and that rev matching is pretty fn good. Perfect matches every time I down shifted.

Either one of 2 things needs to happen to be more of an equal comparison.

Run the gt350r with rev matching

Run the Mach 1 without rev matching

Doing heel toe is going to take more time off of your lap than rev matching. That’s a fact.

I have a Xingeering rev matching module on my base 2019 GT350 and it makes a difference. You can shift as needed to stay in the powerband without being a heel-toe master.

I love the rev matching, my only complaint is that it does nothing to help the synchros, because it doesn't know you're shifting until you're entering the gate. A manual rev match gets the engine to the correct rpm before you enter the gate, giving the synchro minimal work to do.
