Don't forget that the Shelby has a better transmission and cooling for the transmission and rear end that the PP2 doesn't have. It also has lighter and probably better brakes than the PP2. Then there's that Voodoo engine too.
If Ford did the off the shelf parts thing for the Mach1, there would still be a gap between the Mach1 and the GT350.
True but with all that they have that is better, it doesn't really translate into big number differences. They are still pretty close

Add in the fact that you can have a savings of $10 - 20K with a PP2, that can buy you a lot of modifications to help make up that difference. Add in the PP2 is a better daily driver (GT350 is stiffer) and had an engine that doesn't consume a quart of oil every 1,000 miles and is slightly better in city and combined mpg.

True, if you want a track God, GT350/Mach 1 all the way. If you just want a tight handling Mustang with very good performance, the PP2 gives you a great option.

A "track god" without coolers is useless on a road course. The PP2 debacle in published tests has proven that. This looks like another poor effort. Look at the coolers on a Camaro SS sometime, and then look at a 1LE. The Mach 1 cannot compete with that.
This is going to be another "close but no cigar" again, just like the GT500 was against the ZL1 where the Zl1 won with better steering feel and overall dynamics. I'm not a hater, I've owned 12 Mustangs, I've also driven these in press events, and I've driven them all on track as an instructor - including many student's Camaros. I know Ford can do better... and so far all this Mach 1 has got is a name from the past that was at best a compromise (not a BOSS 302/351, not an SVT Cobra).

Sorry guys but the Mach 1 was never a track car and won't be a track car it's a pure street car like the Bullitt.

I think there are 2 likely options:

Bullitt intake parts and tune: 480-490hp
Same as above but perhaps GT500 heads and possible cam change: 520-530hp

Either way not enough to make me as a BULLITT owner want to upgrade.

Maybe the GT gets bumped to 480hp and the Mach 1 gets 530hp?

The Mach 1 will be 500 and the GT will get the bump to 480. In the end the Bullitt really was just a tune with the 350 manifold in my opinion solely for aesthetic purposes to have the black manifold with no engine cover. The manifold itself has been proven to be lesser from a performance point than an 18+ manifold so hopefully Ford learned from that and makes the Mach 1 actually good. Because the Bullitt was nonsense. No offense to any one who has it, but a fully loaded GT PP1 with magnetite is better with the 18 manifold and a good tune or custom DYNO tune and the PP2 Is just plain better out the box period.

Is the Mach 1 gonna have electric motors driving the front wheels? if so, I'm in.

That's a strong possibility that the Mach 1 will be a hybrid V8. This was patented by Ford a while back....
