Just so everyone is on the same page, @DarrenMRRWheels

That's probably what I'll end up getting. Although a forged or flow form wheel sounds nice, it's a Ford Mustang not a Porsche 911. I couldn't justify $3K in wheels alone only for them to end up with curb rash. I don't have those kinda of pockets.

Yea, I have SVE now, they’ll get sold
Mach 1’s for me

eh? You can buy flow-formed wheels for 1000-1400 a set all the live long day. 'Shelby' wheels by comparison are a total rip-off for the price - frequently just low-pressure cast instead of FF.

Cast vs flow formed vs forged wheels is talked about a lot. Its probably summed up in other places on 6G already but for those who may be confused...

Forged wheels have the highest structural integrity and are the least likely to have internal voids that could weaken them, but the forging process is the most expensive of the three.

Low pressure cast wheels have a higher likelihood of internal voids, shrinkage, etc. than forged wheels, and don’t enjoy the same mechanical properties as forged wheels.

Rotary forged / flow formed wheels are made by “spinning”, which is not a true forging process. It takes the existing material and makes it thinner but stronger by work hardening / strain hardening the material, but this also makes them more susceptible to cracking than cast wheels if not carefully designed.

I assume OEM’s use cast wheels because they are cheapest. They are probably heavier than flow formed wheels because more material is needed to prevent failure.

Like everything else... all three types have their advantages and disadvantages.

I don't like them. Not that it matters, because I don't expect much price advantage over a GT350. And I would take the GT350 in that case.

But more importantly, I wouldn't count on the wheels from a prototype being the final choice.
You can count on the dealers jacking the price up to GT350 #'s.
At that point, all appeal is lost.

I will definitely consider them. Really like my SP2's right now. I need to see them in person.

Are those 10s all around or 11s in the rear? 👍🇺🇸

I see someone else already psoted it, but if you want to know what HRE FF wheels on my s550 look like, here it is. Had a few guys say they remind them of the Mach1 offering

They look really nice on your S550. I like the design of the M1 and your rims - but how's washing them?

Obviously takes a bit more care, but the way i wash my wheels on all my cars is pretty detailed, so it didnt matter that much. Not a daily driver

I spoke to both companies. Herrod is willing to ship to the US, but Mustang Motorsport is not. Also, Mustang Motorsports' site claims they have a machined face version as well as other colors available, but after speaking to them, that isn't the case.

Their wheels may just be strikingly similar or made by the same place for each, but they have slight differences. Herrod's features their name along the lip and MM's has "forged" there. Some pics make it look like the finish is vaguely different as well, but I could be off on that.

This is already posted elsewhere on this forum, but there's no need for pricey forged replica's unless you really want to spend the extra money to get the benefits of a forged wheel. You can get genuine Mach1 HP wheels from Ford Performance for $1000 using wheel kit part # M-1007K-MACH1H

what comes with the HP Mach 1 are forged wheels. The $1000 ones from Ford performance is CAST aluminum. big difference, hence less price.
