The most powerful Mustang's new carbon-fiber handling package adds 20-inch carbon-fiber wheels.

  • Ford has added a carbon-fiber handling package, which includes 20-inch carbon fiber wheels, to the 2021 Mustang Shelby GT500.
  • Three new colors are also available: Grabber Yellow, Antimatter Blue, and Carbonized Gray Metallic.
  • The Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered by a 760-hp supercharged V-8.
For its second model year, Ford is giving the Mustang Shelby GT500, the most powerful production Ford yet, a new carbon-fiber handling package that adds 20-inch painted carbon-fiber wheels similar to those included in the more expensive carbon-fiber track package. The 2021 Mustang Shelby GT500 also is available in three new colors. It can be ordered now, priced starting at $74,095.

A handling package has already been offered on the Shelby GT500, though it only added a Gurney flap and splitter wickers and cost $1500. The new carbon-fiber handling package adds 20-inch painted carbon fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, an oil catch can, and wheel locks for $10,000. The wheels are similar to the exposed carbon wheels included in the $18,500 carbon-fiber track package, which adds Recaro seats, an exposed carbon GT4 wing, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber. Adjustable strut top mounts are also included here. The three new paint colors include Grabber Yellow (pictured above), Antimatter Blue, and Carbonized Gray Metallic.

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, dubbed Predator, that produces 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. In our testing, it helped launch the top-dog Mustang to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds on the way to an 11.3-second quarter-mile at 132 mph when equipped with its standard summer tires. The Predator engine is also expected to make its way under the hood of the upcoming Raptor R.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is available now starting at $74,095, and opting for the new carbon-fiber handling package will up the cost to $81,095. They'll arrive in the spring. However it's still a little over $8000 more than the 650-hp Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

Looks like the base price went up $1195, assuming anything in that article is correct, since there's some janky math, i.e.:

wait how did you find 2021 mustang build and price? I just was on fords website and it’s not there.

Antimatter Black (my name for it) is too damn dark (have seen it in person). Carbonized Gray lacks the killer light to dark flip/flop of Magnetic (also have seen in person). That yellow is the worst shade of yellow since Zinc Yellow of '00-'03.

Yeah, the new yellow was being discussed in another thread, it's a touch too green for my tastes (I did a quick/shitty edit, and just made it a bit warmer/redder, and it was so much better).

Magnetic is hard to beat, I'm considering an Explorer ST and would've put it as my #1 or 2 choice, but it's gone across all MY21 :crying:

2020 GT 500 with destination charge is 74,095. Price may be actually considered less as 2021 MY gets Ford-360 as standard equipment. A gift for 2021.

I'm ordering a new Bronco and had it narrowed down to the Antimatter or the Carbonized. My local dealer got their new F150s in a few weeks ago, so I went to see the colors in person. I was definitely not impressed with either color. My glasses have the transition lenses and had to keep taking them off just to see the blue in the Antimatter, and the Carbonized looked pretty plain. Now i've narrowed it back down to Velocity Blue or the Cactus/Fighter Jet grey, even though I still haven't seen a Cactus in person yet either.

I'm not sure on the cost of the carbon handling package, but I'm assuming the $74,095 includes $1,195 for destination since those match the 2020 GT500 prices. I suppose it could have gone up by the same amount, but who knows...Ford still shows 2020 models on its website.

That said, I like that they are offering the carbon fiber wheels on the "base" model that will help shed some weight (I'm guessing around 35-40 lbs total??); but still have PS4S and back seats.

I am ordering my FE Bronco in Cactus Gray. I saw it a couple weeks ago and loved it. This is coming from an Avalanche Gray Raptor owner.

Doesn't the $74,095 include base price ($70,300) plus gas guzzler and destination? $70,300 + $2,600 + $1,195 = $74,095.
