You can use Launch control on the streets but you need to dial it in right. On the street you really need to lower tire pressure and get a good amount of heat in the tires for good results. When I had my Z06 with launch control I was constantly able to get 0-60 of 3.2-3.4 not including rollout. I use it on my 911 turbo as well but that cars LC is kinda on another level.

On a separate note the GT500 engine is what should’ve been in the Ford GT, that would make the GT a legitimate dream car to me but that EcoBoost engine does nothing for me.

Why was the GT500 bogging down so bad right after launch? Traction control kicking in?

That was TC cutting power, yes.

I’ve noticed Ford’s TC is highly evasive and not “gentle” like some other manufacturers.

My 350 does the same, cuts power harshly.

That’s because he was using launch control (DUMB!!!!!!) and traction control is always engaged when you use launch control.

He would get far better results if he just floored it with traction control on or turned traction control off and feathered the throttle.

I’ve thought this also. I still think a human will out drive launch control.

depends on the car. Winter conditions and no adjustments (like this video) most of the time human can beat Lc. But warm sticky tires and a good LC is harder to beat then you might think. Model and variables can matter a lot. For instance on turbo cars, LC typically allows you to build boost first providing way more instant torque. It’s also much more effective in AWD cars and mid engine cars. Draggy is the best way to find out which is faster!!

So the GT's launch control worked much better because of the set up of the car, rear engine weight over the rear tires resulting in no loss of traction. TC was not kicking therefore not bogging down and smoking the GT500 with launch issues.

I have an NHRA license. I’d like to give it a shot. If anyone is willing to loan me their GT500 for a day.

That TC light was blinking in the video for at least 5 whole seconds lol it's no wonder that the gt500 lost to the GT.

My exact words. I try not to watch the videos where there are you tubers. Pumping out BS content to making money. But perceive what ever you need to.
I know, I feel the same way. I hate youtubers.

I watched this too and I was yelling at the video 'You cant drive sh$t!" I'm sorry but I dont think that was all TC, cause the doofus kid had lanuch control on and did a 10.6 at the track and to do a 10.6 there is no way your getting that with a 4.6 on 0-60. Even looking at the internal video there is no way he knew how to drive, hell my '16 CS off the line was faster then that. I agree, he would have been better off not using launch control, but I also believe if you dont know how to drive doesnt matter what car you have, its not going to make you look good. Granted yes I bet the GT is faster, but not by that distance. the GT is 647HP w/548 torque the 500 is 760HP w/598 torque. That was a waste of 45 secs of my life I will never get back.

Don't discount the traction advantage of the mid-engine rwd layout in sub-par conditions. That shitty road will affect the GT less than it will the GT500. Launching it off of idle may have been a bit simpler, but the car would have still had massive traction issues. I can assure you that both GT500 owners are capable drivers, that was just a terrible road for the test.

People complain about motor trends 11.5 second run. Versus the 10.6 runs at the track. This is just a real world example of motor trends test numbers.
