Appreciate your follow up comments but please keep in mind that FP has a fairly new team in place and with that comes a great deal of inexperience in some cases.

Don't get me wrong as I think a great deal of Noah and I like him a lot l but he is only 23 years old and has very limited experience when it comes to the way in which the GT500 will be launched at the FRAP over the next few months and the rest of the model year.

Again good luck with the production timeline for your car and not here to suggest that your car will not be assembled prior to the November 2019 shutdown and am only suggesting that your car will not be delivered by Thanksgiving time line as mentioned and suggest that in fact it may be delivered by the end of the 2019 calendar year which is much more reasonable IMO and hopefully would still meet with your approval!

Given your experience and best guess.

Whats a likely timeframe for mine?
Base, black roof, vynil stripes, tech, recaro, cf Interior.

Flatrock to central pa. Build day 10/9

Based on your car being ordered with the above options and with only a ~500 mile transit time to your dealership I will suggest that your car will move OTR and depending how long it takes a carrier to complete a truckload of vehicles for the Central Pa. area I would suggest that you could have your car within a couple weeks of your blend date.

Transportation IMO will be the key issue here.

Good luck and keep us all posted as to when you GT500 departs the FRAP!!

Harry: Any idea on how a vehicle would be shipped to southeast Texas? Rail to Dallas? Houston? San Antonio? Then OTR from there? FP said 2-4 weeks for shipment with build date 10/24. (Vehicle details in signature)

Yes, rail to all points in Texas and with Texas being such a big state there will be drop yards to the various destinations that you listed above.

Of course the final leg delivery will be OTR and with your GT500 being a 2 seat car I would expect a longer delivery time than the 2 to 4 weeks that FP is telling you unless something drastic has changed recently with the rail carrier providers.

Unless the railroads have come up with a lot of rail car capacity over the last year that will be your biggest challenge along with filling up railcars in a timely fashion for Texas in order to put a lot of cars together for your area.

Can't wait to talk to you about your CFTP car once it arrives!!!

Many thanks for the insight, Harry and I'm already getting my brain in tune with a March delivery. Didn't know about the lack of rail cars, that clearly exacerbates the issue.

But I too am anxious to talk ALL about the new vehicle when it finally arrives. Like most everyone else, the dang car is about all I can think of most of the time. :-)

I did some Web searching Harry and learned a fair amount about the rail car shortage. No wonder things have slowed down. But, on the plus side, I did read in a March article,

"Rail companies will add about 1,070 bi-level rail cars and more than 550 tri-level rail cars to the North American pool by the end of this month,"

That was a LITTLE encouraging but the bottom line is, we can do nothing but wait and see. <sigh>

Any chance to just pick up from the plant and cut out the 3 or 4 modes or transportation and hand offs?

Has to be handled through a licensed dealer. Gotta get those taxes & fees!
Have your delivery moved to a Michigan or Ohio dealer to get closer.

Check out how much they charge for a Corvette Plant/Museum Delivery...($995 + tax)
https://www.corvettemuseum.org/visit/delivery-programs/r8c-museum-delivery/
And you have to do all the paperwork ahead of time. Pick-up is 2 weeks after final assembly.

I'd imagine that's nearly impossible, V, unless you were willing to let Ford off the hook for any damage during transportation and, that you sign off on the PDI the dealer would normally do. Problem is, it isn't your car until you finalize that at the store.

This would be the ideal dealer.

Wonder if they are swamped with such requests, and how much they charge for PDI...
