Thanks for all the posts! Very interesting. We all should buy 1 share of Ford stock to get answers! Question: Friend “ordered” GT 500, placed a deposit, no info from (very nice) dealer. No verification of anything, if ordered, etc. There is a solid agreement however with again a very good and honest dealership. What should my friend be getting? Some DORA or some acknowledgement that order placed and accepted by Ford? This all seems ridiculous and many are sour to buying now, wanting to wait for used ones to appear in a year! Can you folks give us a step by step what to expect once a deposit has been placed? If the deposit was around 2 months ago, when would my friend expect her GT 500? Why would a very good dealership lack information? Seems like Ford throws questions back to dealer why BulLitt not equipped with Ford connect (WiFi), but fails to provide a good and honest dealership with production information? Congrats to all on their way to getting their dream car. I hope my friend is on solid ground.

Your friend should have a received a Vehicle Order Confirmation (VOC) on the day she ordered the car and a Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement (DORA) a day or 2 later. With these documents, she can track her car through Ford Performance 800-367-3788 option 1. She will need the Order Number and Dealer Code when she calls, just tell the rep that she wants to get the status on a 2020 GT500 order. Chances are the status will be Unscheduled/Material Hold this is the normal status for a car without a VIN. The large majority of GT500 orders do not have VINs and a lot of them had order dates that went back to 07/01/2019, the day the order bank opened.

Thanks that is a fantastic summary of where I think my friend is at in the process. Apparently no DORA or VOC info and as I said a well known and solid dealership with a great reputation so no dealer worries. Just wonder why no specific info given like you mention but assurances and a sales contract with deposit exists. Perhaps again a reflection of Ford’s mysterious process (cloak and dagger) leading me to believe production issues. Thanks again. Will help a lot.

I would ask her to contact the General Manger or Fleet Sales, that will have access to the documents she needs. The salesmen are not a reliable sources of information.

When your sleep cycle is that of an infant, you're up at all hours and such is the case with yours truly.

This morning, to kill some of that time, I ginned up a worksheet with VIN's and dates then let Excel do some calculations. What I learned is:

- Average number of days from Produced to Released for all but the October-produced cars = 15 days

- Same thing for the October cars = 38 days

- Average number of days from Released to Shipped for all cars = 6 days

Obviously, vehicles with different options to be accomplished in the Mod Shop along with the different choices for stripes will alter the number of days so these numbers are just that, averages.

I find it useful, my car I believe would have shot right past the mod shop, but I also think even though it was a first week November build, it got caught up in the October stuff. But the 6 days of average from release to ship is interesting, my is going on day 5 of awaiting to ship today,,,,,, so let’s see if averages take over!!!
