I'd be suprised if that strut brace is made out of cast aluminum, because it is brittle. Forged aluminum, is my guess, could possibly be the carbon composit, but it would probably have to be more beefy than what I can see in the pic.
Pressure cast aluminum isn't that brittle. Forged has a very different surface finish, so that is probably a cast part. In that application it should be no problem.

That's not accurate either. The 137 '15 GT350 cars just had a year number on them. Several '16 cars came even before some '15 cars. The '15 and '16 order banks were opened at the same time.
Yes, there were some 2016 cars built before the 2015 cars but very few and in almost all cases these cars were 2016 Pilot Production cars as Ford did not produce any 2015 GT350/R Pilot Production cars.

As you mentioned the 2015 cars were identical to the 2016 cars with the only minor difference being that all 2015 cars had a chassis number that matched the end of the VIN whereas the 2016 cars had VIN's and chassis numbers at random.

I own car #77 and even though it is still on the MSO it is not worth $150K nowadays unlike car #136 that I drove across the auction block for a great friend at Mecum Indy 2 1/2 years ago as it went for $148,500 all in.

This is just flat good news. January 14, 2019 will be a historic day for the GT500.
Agreed about January 14th being a historic day for the GT500.

I would also suggest that with Ford's long standing relationship with Craig Jackson and Steve Davis that various Ford executives will be flying into Scottsdale shortly after the official unveiling of the 2020 GT500 in Detroit and will possibly unveil this same car in Scottsdale later on in the week.

In addition it will be interesting to see what Ford and BJ come up with for a charity car later on that week and who knows if it would be the rights to purchase the Number One car.

Only speculation on my part but would suggest that may be a special week in Scottsdale for us Mustang enthusiasts!

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if it's composite. Stut bars just need to be strong in tension and compression, so I doubt any loads would break them.

Update:

Mike Levine (Ford North America Product Communications manager) just revealed the 2020 GT500 reveal date of January 14, 2019 at the Detroit Auto Show, on his twitter account. Along with this, Ford teased the date with a sneak peek at the upcoming 2020 GT500's supercharged 5.2-liter Predator engine.

Original Post:

Just saw a post that the GT500 will be officially revealed at NAIAS on 1/14/19. Not sure of the accuracy of the claim, but I sure do hope it is accurate so we can finally get some solid numbers on this thing.
I would love to see this plenum/SC unbolted from the motor.
Something seems a little off.......

Exactly. Impact loads are distributed so well across the tower and underbody K-member that the brace wouldn't see much.

These mother fuckers are really gonna drop the Voodoo flat plane crank and slap a supercharger on it for this car, aren't they? That's gonna be glorious if they do. I saw a photo from this event where they kinda double down on the GT500 making 700+ HP. Thoughts?

Well like the "Rock" says...

FINALLY !!! The GT500 has come back to DETROIT!

Lol. It's nice to see some parts of it. It to seems Ford is all in on their new moniker: "Built with Pride." Will probably be on all of the plates for the engine along with the sig.

Saw an article where they sad the car will have "in excess of 650Hp" are they walking back the HP speculation on this car. Its got to have 700+ imo. especially at the rumored curb weight.

Quote "earlier this year we managed to get a sneak peek at the beastly muscle car’s spec sheet and learned it will come powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 with an estimated 720 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. However, new information has just come in claiming the output will deliver over 650 hp"

Which part? The Voodoo or them doubling down on the HP number? If it's about the engine, I've heard people say Voodoo or beefed up Coyote so idk.
A supercharged 5.2L

Yeah, I posted the picture a few posts up. I'm also very curious why they changed that...

It's a 5.2L Coyote for base engine. Definitely not Voodoo. It'll have clear over 700 hp. Not sure why that signage had 650+ but it'll be significantly more than 701, but not 800.

Not sure where you saw those claims of only 650hp, but that seems pretty inaccurate. Again, no one really knows what its pushing (obviously), BUT Ford Performance Director Herman Salenbauch DID state in an interview with Motor Trend that "“It will have more power than we ever had. We told you 700 plus, and it’s not 701 or 702; it’s plus and a bit more.”
No idea why one of the top guys in charge would lie about such claims. Also, not sure why the 2020 GT500 would only have 650 when the 2014 GT500 had 662hp.........
More recent "dealer leaks" have revealed that the 2020 GT500 might actually be closer to 780 or 790.
In any case, we will know on the 14th.
