I like to disassemble things.
...the biggest competition is the ZL1 1LE with the 10 Speed Auto. That is the main and the biggest competition....GT500 should be able to wipe the floor with any version of the ZL1 on every performance metric.
I think it'll be very close to be honest.

My understanding is that the ZL1-1LE is a very track-focused car. Not very streetable due to a stiff suspension, and still has the typical Camaro livability downsides in terms of cargo space, passenger space, and visibility.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the ZL1-1LE faster on some tracks, especially tighter ones where its (likely) lower weight will be an advantage and where the GT500 can't use all of its power.

The GT500 will likely be much more well rounded (similar to pretty much all Mustang vs. Camaro comparisons), but may not be much faster, or even as fast, on a track. A lot will depend on how aggressive Ford decides to go with the suspension and aero, and in the past they have been much less aggressive than GM in that regard.

Maybe Ford will really go all-out with some options on the GT500 to compete more directly with the ZL1-1LE; it will certainly be interesting to see how far they decide to push things.

And I believe otherwise, or why bother.

Let's not put the cart before the horse and wait on the rest of the details.

We know the tire sizes, its been posted, and tirerack has them listed
Where is it? Official Ford release? I don't believe the tire sizes on the test and mule cars which shows 315's. That's too narrow for

Just saw the posts on tire specs. 315's are narrow for the track pack. I m hoping this is not official number or just for the regular GT500. With the increased weight and ton of torque, this car needs more than 315's in the back. ZL1 1LE has 325's, Corvette ZO6/ZR1 has 335's and Viper has 355's, in common all these cars perform beautiful on a road course. 315's were OK for the GT350R but definitely a no go for the GT500.

I guess the track package could wind up with a 325 in the rear, but keep in mind, the back end is a stock S550 in terms of tire fitment, there's no way to stuff a 345/355 back there without a significant amount of tire sticking out (probably more than is even streetable-y allowed ...)

Side note:

I keep confusing you two :D

Oh totally :D

I was a bit bummed the GT500 didn't have a unique behind-the-doors treatment, but I also understand the cost/complexity of engineering a different rear end (though BMW does it with their M-cars and this car will be in the same price area ...)

I don't understand how such a knowledgeable person such as yourself with a trained eye could make such a rookie mistake.

Clearly his is a 2016 GT350 with the 60T track package (1 of 87). As opposed to mine, which is a 2017 GT350R 920A with equipment group 67S (1 of 19).

Furthermore, the two photos were taken at tracks that are across the country from each other.

I could go on and on, but to what end? I suggest maybe going back to the basics. :giggle:

At least you're honest. Have you considered help?

Funny how we pass the time waiting for the next drop. I wonder if the people at Ford read this stuff and laugh thier asses off........

Anyway, Ford will be doing a GT500 showing in London next week. Maybe we will have more info then or shortly thereafter.

Numbers comparison is still incomplete. GVW...Weight to HP and TQ ratios will play a huge role in the overall numbers game.

100-0 and 60-0 braking distances as well as maximum lateral Gs are also published for all of the other cars on the OP's list.

Until we see some real world (circuit) performance numbers and a few GT500s out in the wild, we are still in wait and see mode.

I'd like to see the Redeye widebody Challenger added to the list along with the C7 Z06. Or if we're comparing halo cars, then the Demon as well.

Wow, you offered a lot of useless information.
Suites and engineers are slow to adopt, and cater to a niche market, the blower and straight lines crew. Personally, I feel like a car is not complete until it sets a time at the Nür, but a lot of dragsters hate that idea, and deem it irrelevant. Even for the GT500 which is a track focused car in body and spirit. I’d love a DCT twin turbo AWD mustang... but the world isn’t fair lol.

Demon is dead. You can add the redeye, but it is only good for a 1/4 or 1/2 mile run. As soon as a turn comes it's over. The C7 Z06 will be interesting, but the mere fact that we are comparing a dedicated 2 seat sports car to a 4 seat pony car is a win for Ford in my eyes. The ZLE will be the real challenge and it will be what everyone wants to see. The ZLE will lose the 1/4 mile battle, but around the track will be what everyone will talk about.
