Faster is not necessarily quicker! There is a difference between faster and quicker. A car like the GT 500 could be faster "mph" but still not be as quick "ET" as a redeye depending on tire. Stock power, stock tire, stock wieght and or any of the above will alter the whole faster/quicker debate. Personally I believe the GT 500 trumps the redeye because it is arguably as good on the strip and spanks it on the track! If your a dodge guy go ahead and buy the redeye but if your a performance enthusiast then the GT 500 is the car to get!
Both are great cars!

Something else he's not considering. The GT500 would benefit MORE further up the track(beyond 60feet) with the traction of a DR simply because the GT500 is making much more power at the big end and still spinning more than the Redeye. It's applying full power and torque there because of the higher revving engine and instantaneous application of both through the DCT.....In other words that big end gappening would get even worse for the Redeye.....The fact that he doesn't understand DR's benefit doesn't end at the starting line or even 60foot shows he's trolling or has never drag raced. My clunky 2009 GT500 with barely 600whp still spins midway through 3rd with some fairly sticky Nitto triple 5 street tires in 315x20....I'm pretty sure when you ran your car down the strip you were still incurring some spin at the half or close to it?
Come on man, the Gt500 is not spinning on the big end of the track. Go watch speed phenoms video of his 10.66 run, very little to no wheel spin at launch let alone down track. No Gt500 is going to spin top end outside of some freaky run. The facts are clear the Gt500 doesn’t 60 ft like a redeye and is therefore at a disadvantage in a drag race. You can’t argue with numbers. 10.22 full weight stock on a tire is no joke. Like I said before this does not make the redeye a better car, all it means is it’s the faster stock power car as of now. To say otherwise is just not true.

Do you think a Gt500 can go 10.22 all stock on a 18 inch drag tire? So far we have seen 10.50s at Atco with seats pulled a tire and a res delete. These are the facts, if a Gt500 does beat that time I would be amazed. BlueBeast agreed with me and I think he knows something about drag racing.

I agree, I should just add that the main reason I like the challenger is the look, I don’t really care if it’s faster than the Gt500. It’s old school and cool and dodge has shown respect to what a muscle car is. That’s the appeal to me and to many others. If GM or Ford released a classic retro design I might very well change my opinion. However if we are honest neither the Mustang or Camaro do retro as well as the challenger. The charger now that’s another story.

Shoutout to KiloBravo who has been very kind and polite to me.

Cheers.

What tire? All I've seen so far is a GT500 on 20" street tires repeatedly flogging a Redeye on a 18" drag radial set up....If you don't think a 760 plus HP car on street tires will not incur wheelspin further down the track than the 60 you have never driven a 600whp car or drag raced for that matter....

Of course it may spin after the 60 ft. All I was saying is that it would not be spinning past the 330 or the 1/8 mile.

As for the tire yes stangmode has used a MT and a Toyo 888R, he still has the 20 inch rims however. Honestly you don’t need an 18 inch rim to be fast, sure it helps but I have seen redeyes in the 10.30s and better on the stock rims.

Really?

Same track same day. Stangmode with seats pulled is still in the 10.5s in Atco air. Please explain how the gt500 is faster same track same day. M2Fs car in the rematch video had 262 gears, a poor driver and the car was lowered. You still have not offered any evidence to prove me wrong.

Wow.

Why don’t you go back and see where this thread started, like the very first post. The first races between M2F and stangmode. Same track same day redeye did 10.44 Gt500 did 10.80. That was a different redeye that had 309 gears and was not lowered. That was what I posted about.

You notice how stangmode said the 262 geared lowered redeye launched soft. Kinda proves my point. M2F is wrong on stock power mph for redeyes but never mind because I’m talking ET here. Gt500 is generally faster mph but some redeyes have gone over 135 stock power.

Go back and watch the first video in this thread where the redeye was over 3.5 tenths faster than a Gt500 same track same day. I should add that stangmode still hasn’t been in the 10.40s that M2F did, let alone 10.20s.

135 mph bone stock???? Where? Generally, 125-128 is what I've seen bone stock Redeyes run.

Stock power, not bone stock. Dodge said 10.80s at 131 mph bone stock. here is a video of a redeye with a drag pack, aka drag tires and skinnies going 10.04 at 138 mph stock power.

Top video is the faster runs, he went 10.10s before I will put that video in too. the bottom video is his runs on stock tires.

Copied from the video description.
Car has: Stock tune. Stock motor. Stock supercharger. Drag pak with 17x10 billet specialties in the back with 305/45/17 mickey thompson et street r tires. M&H 4.5/28/18 tires in the front. Full interior with factory rear seat delete option. Diff brace. Temperature at the track was around 50 degrees

Atco, Cecil county, etc. usually in November. Right before the track closes. DA can approach -2000 on a very cold night.

Thanks for the clarification guys! Even with ideal conditions like -2000 DA & with minor mods, I'm impressed! 138mph is screaming!

No problem friend. From my research on drag racing reading people who know their stuff, it looks like skinnies add around 2 tenths and 2 mph. So the same redeye without skinnies would be in the 10.20s at 135-136. A GT500 on skinnies should be about high 10.30s at 137-138. GT500 is a very impressive mph car. Most good drivers in redeyes will be in the high 120s to low 130s mph, GT500 on average will be 2 to 3 mph faster and 2 to 3 tenths slower ET.
