My new 2020 Ford Explorer ST got a screw in the tire and NO LIE they could not repair it. I was Like WTF.....come to find out the tire has a foam ring in the tire LOL. The foam deadens the road noise. Yikes $500 later for one tire uh huh. Thank god I got the tire and wheel deal for $700 being only one more issue tire and or wheel it paid for itself.

At 1000 mi. I caught a nail in the drivers rear. I was told by the shop that it was NOT patchable and $460.00 later, I have a new sawhorse or foot stool or end table. I can't decide.

Post up your ideas. Winner gets a tuna sammich.

UPDATE...

Nothing was found during my initial inspection of the tire, but when I removed the tire and sprayed it with soapy water, I discovered a u-shaped staple deeply embedded in the tread. Barely visible until I observed the soap bubbles. $455.00 later, tire replaced. Can't repair a tire that you track...

I was talking to the tire repair person, and he told me that there has been an upswing in tire repairs due to punctures over the past decade. In my neck of the woods (NJ), you have a million amateur contactors that haphazardly throw Home Depot size boxes of nails and screws into the back of their pickup trucks, and the contents often fall out onto the road. My Mother-in-Law brought in a tire for repair that had no less than 25 3-inch nails in it. She ran over an entire box of nails from a nail gun that fell off a truck in front of her... The repair person told her she broke a record at their particular shop.

Is that a Pirelli tire? If so, I do believe they have a road hazard warranty. I've run into this before on Volvos with the noise suppression system (foam strip).
